Thats a quite decent Price though :)

Im just thinking - wont your friend run into the same issue as you did? I mean where you have a ton of gpu power, but not a big enough frame buffer to make use of it.

He only really plays Planetside 2 and BF4 at 1080p so they should do him for a while.

Yeah i was going to try and hang on to see if i could gt the full 8gb of vram out my 690s when windows 10 comes out but gaming was getting so annoying at 2gb vram so i gave in and bought the beast.

He wont like them in planetside 2, as sli makes the game stutter like crazy... but 1 780 ti is more than enough for that game anways :p

Sure should be - 780 ti sli is total overkill for 1080p xD

But he could do 200% render resolution in bf4 Thus downsample from 4k :p

He's been playing with DSR settings but seems pretty happy with just playing at 1080p for now at least.

Forgot how hot these GTX480's get in SLi, 90c per card is crazy, Titans better show up soon!

Didnt most old nvidia top Cards get crazy hot :p

The fact that their old stock coolers were pretty much crap didnt help either^^

Yeah they did get a bit toasty, I used to run a pair of 9800GX2's in Quad SLi, they were hotter than the sun!

Tempted to run my 7970's until the Titans show up but they come with their own list of issues...

I got mine boosting to a constant 1505MHz running stable all the time using Cyclops firmware, the lower voltage of the firmwares he made.

Still don't have my cards, at this point I'm tempted to cancel the order and see how the 980Ti's do if they are actually a thing.

Unfortunately it is only on GOG. They have both standalone installs (you download the exe and bins) or a client like steam that keeps it up to date. Either way there is no DRM. It can't hurt to try it. W2 was excellent.
