That sucks.

 

Quality control with these companies really concerns me, for the money I'd expect NO dead pixels and minimal bleed at most. Honestly I'd pay more if they would just guarantee me that.

I'm not going to send this one back I don't think...I just really want to keep it and enjoy it and this one is a tiny bit better than the last one...I'm scared that the next one is going to be worse.

If I put brightness to less than 100% it's still a very bright monitor but the bleed isn't as bad...so I may do that if I play games that have darker scenes

we'll see...i'm going to do some gaming tonight and see how much it bothers me

I can understand why you're not going through the whole process again... it's a PITA, let alone doing this two or three times. I hope you're fine with gaming.

I wonder if putting something dark on the bezel's edge towards the monitor (where you notice backlight bleed the most I can imagine) actually would help. As I personally hardly game in a complete dark room, I'm also not sure I'd suffer that much from backlight bleed, or am I just not aware of what I'm talking about?

It is almost 100% guaranteed to have bleed with 100% brightness, recommended brightness is around 24%.
Try that for 1-2 days and see how it is.

 

Ok got my monitor.

2 stuck pixels near the edges so not a big deal, ill see if i can get those to go away later.
Minimal back light bleed/ips glow at 100% brightness. At low 30-40 its not noticeable. Quite happy with this one.

Build date is april 2015 so looks like theyve been working on QC.

 

Oohhh! Very interesting remarks on build date and also that backlight bleed is seriously reduced with brightness, I thought it would be horrible from the lowest to the brightest setting.

But you've caught my attention, how can you make stuck pixels go away? And by stuck, do you mean stuck in a certain color (like my current screen used to have a single green one), or dead as in black all the time?

 

Dead pixels are black, none of the subpixels are showing color.. As for stuck pixels, you will see them stuck as one color.
Theres a chance that you can recover them. Pixel fixers will flash different colors very fast in an attempt to unstuck those pixels, no guarantee of course.

Dead pixels are black. Red, Green, Blue are all 0.

Stuck pixels are anything but black. Any combination of Red, Green, Blue where at least one of them is above 0. That means one or more of the subpixels are stuck.

Gray is a stuck pixel, since it has Rx,Gy,Bz where x, y, z are non-zero.

 

Ah, thanks for the info, I never had to (or correct: have) tried this thing, I just lived with that single dead pixel I never notice. All speaking of my current screen of course.
So any results of this pixel fixer test?

What do you mean by that? It was announced as a TN pannel, but actually it's an IPS type thing. Can't change the thread topic though

 

I got mine on Friday - works perfect, no dead pixels or anything.

I've not read all posts but QC don't seem as bad as the Swift monitors which is good.

 

They probably use the same 8bit panels as the ROG Swift.

 

tbh, I would like to believe the same, but I'm almost sure that a good part of this screen's target audience has bought a Swift before
Yet, I think I would still think that the Acer has a slightly better qc, or maybe less buggy screens.
