Rockstar dont give a toss about this LOD/Shadow rendering box either, it'll never be sorted.

I've had a private ticket to Rockstar replied with generic crap, replied to that auto response email and got another reply just pointing me to other tickets and forum questions regarding this issue. The dont give a damn about it, for me it's a deal breaker, I hate seeing it. So much for the PC being the definitive version.

You have to realize that the ones responding to tickets are monkeys working from a script - im quite certain that the actual developers are aware of the issue, and working on fixing it.

Yeah this shadow LOD 'bug' is annoying lots of PC users.
We've all discussed it here, theres threads on Reddit, Steam about it, its been disscussed on the Neogaf GTA V thread alot aswell.

The more I look into it the more I think its not a bug at all, but its in by design to keep performance ok.

I did try that "fix" that was kicking about (changing those shadowsplitz start and end values to 1) but had mixed results with it so just went back to defaults.

I'm just ignoring the issue now and trying to enjoy the game.

    Using:
    Shadows Very high,
Softest (PCSS got some wierd bugs with it still), Long shadows on,
    High res shadows On,
Extended shadows Off (bizzarely this makes it the issue less noticeable wtf!!)

Im using same settings as you... also find thats when the issue is the least noticable.

Doubt it. Its non-existent on the ps3 and ps4 versions (not sure about MS consoles). If there was one platform that require such drastic measures such as that lod effect to save performance, then it be on the consoles id imagine.

it doesn't happen all the time. Only when the sun is at its brightest midday'ish for me. Go to a fence or tree or something and move your character whilst looking at the floor. You'll see a box area render the high res shadow 10 feet around you, but outside that will be low res.

Here's a few extreme cases of it, just some randoms I found online, but you get the idea.

Anyone else have the game start up in windowed mode? I exit the game on full screen and the next time I fire it up its in windowed and doesn't fully co-operate when I try to change it back to full screen. I have to select full screen 2-3 times before it works?

Obviously not a major problem but wouldn't mind sorting it out.
