Big fps drops (22fps) outside the city with 1 gta 980 at 1080p. I use GFE optimal settings and in the city its all fine. 50-70 fps, but on the long Highway outside the city its a stutter fest, 22-32 fps

I don't remember using the word perfect? I do think it is fairly close to it though as far as playability on day 1 goes! Some slight bugs but nothing to stop me thoroughly enjoying this game! Credit were credit is due to R* on that note

I have tried everything out there and i still get stuttering after playing for a few mins. Even @ 800x600 lol

GFE dont give me the fps drops, can you tell me what the fps problem is?

 

It looks like your game is installed in C:\ directory not F:\. Change that and try again.

 

so i finally figured out whats the deal with the soft shadow weirdness

actually the game dont render full scenes using soft shadow, it only activated around your character, you might even notice a square box around your character where soft shadow is rendered, and anything outside that small square is not soft shadowed

you can notice it more easily if you get closer to a wall/stairs by 1-2 meters then walk along it

To fix the shadow LOD bug change these 2 lines in settings.xml:

<Shadow_SplitZStart value="1.000000" />
<Shadow_SplitZEnd value="1.000000" />

Also Nvidia PCSS shadows don't look that good to me. Some shadows, some are too sharp and others too blurry. I find Softest to be the most realistic and it saves a few fps.

 

Don't use Ultra Vegetation. It kills the frame-rate outside the city. And enable MFAA if you are using MSAA.

 

Could someone please break down how the pre-order money works in the game? Starting out as Frank I only had access to $500,000 and that's already being eaten up pretty quickly, how do I gain access to the rest of the complete $1,200,000?

Agreed, PCSS look a LOT worse and for some reason also eat up 1-2 extra FPS, Softest is by far the best option

Grass option is the #1 FPS killer in this game, Very High, or even just High is more than enough.

How do I enable MFAA? I have the latest driver installed, 2x MSAA in-game (+FXAA, +TXAA) but in nvidia control panel it doesn't show up for me...

 

I'm running stock for this game (1316MHz max boost). Maybe I should do a repair/verify or something, will have to find out how (I dont have the Steam version).

Another thing btw, since I preordered I got the bonus SP cash of half a million dollars but only Franklin got that money. The other guys had 0 dollars at start, why isn't it evenly distributed or why didnt all chars get the same amount of cash?

 

Never mind, apparently MFAA is not supported in SLI setups. :bang:

I'm running my cards @1554/7908 MHz and the game is super stable OC wise, I only had like 1 or 2 crashes in 20+ hours played and I don't think they were OC related.

As for the money, it's lame that the 500K got to Franklin only and you CAN'T transfer it. Also I wish the rest of the money not to go to online, but to let me use it in story mode as well if I so desire but nope... meh.
