Acer is to release new 34" gaming monitors with a 3440 x 1440 resolution and IPS panel, and as it now seems two actually. The XR341CK has AMD FreeSync support and the XR341CKA has NVIDIA G-sync...

The thing interesting about this screen is that they used an IPS pannel with lower refresh rate instead of a TN with higher, and that, if I'm not wrong, it's the first screen that is now announced to launch with both fsync and gsync at the same time.

Holy smokes! My heart sank when I saw this as I've just bought the AOC 3440x1440 and spec wise the acer instantly looked better, then I saw the 1K price tag and was almost as instantly relieved :eyes:

All I can say is WOW. I'd love to see Crysis fully modded on this monster of a monitor...

So other Acer still wins I guess because of 144hz.

What will the minimum refresh rate be in the freesync version?

For precision, it is not one panel who support both at the same time, it is 2 versions of the same panel, one with G-sync ( the *CKA ), the other one with Freesync ( CK )

Yes, I was aware that you don't buy a single screen and hook up whatever you like :)
But until now I've not come across a launch announcement of the same screen in two versions, both gsync and fsync screens being released at the same time.

In other words, I'm surprised they will release the CKA and CK types at the same time.

Umm but I thought up to 4k resolution at 120/144hz on an IPS panel was possible now? Just no one has made it yet?

IGZO panels can probably hit that but it would cost upwards of $1200-1300 per panel. The response time would also probably suffer -- I don't think there is a single 4K panel with under 10ms response, or under 20ms of overall input lag.

The other issue is that DP1.3 is the first spec that can actually support 144hz over a single cable and AFAIK there is no graphics cards with it yet.

100 GBP difference between G-Sync and FreeSync... Quite a bit... I guess that 100 GBP difference could be used for other features when building a new PC...

I can wait. It's not like I need to replace my Swift too soon.

Finally some more news on these monitors. its been weeks since I heard any follow up.

Disappointing that it will only go up to 75hz, but tbh, I game at 100hz now, and most of the time my rig gets frames in the 80-90 area anyway, so with this having gsync, I will most likely end up getting one.

Any mention if these have VESA mount? I can't seem to find this out with any certainty..

It says so in the article of you read it. :)

Integrated 2x 7W stereo speakers with DTS sound are offered on both models, and the stand offers tilt and 130mm height adjustments from the stand. The screen is also VESA 100m compliant. There are no swivel or pivot adjustments offered. Cables are provided for HDMI, DP and USB with both versions of the screen. Both are also part of Acer's flickerless (PWM-free) focus and have additional low blue light modes as well.

This would be my perfect monitor if it was running at 120hz. I'll wait it out, I've decided that there's definitely going to be an ultrawide curved IPS in my future.
