PREY (2017) | Prey 2 [Cancelled]

While I do agree that if it's true, it's complete bulls***. But, if I stopped purchasing games from a publisher everytime they did something that pissed me off...

I'd have nobody to buy games from.

I got upset with ZeniMax/Bethesda back when they original delayed PREY 2 with no solid reason. And then released Brink in the horrid condition it was in.
They release games I like, and have some coming I'm interested in... but like most publishers, they do a ton of stupid crap I really dislike.

 

Yeah, fair enough. I Just dont like zenimax/Bethesda is all. But thanks to 4A, my expectations of developers have gone through the roof, not that they owe me anything, but you know how it is.

Yeah, read that last night.
Still annoys the hell out of me how that whole situation worked out.

A few people inside Human Head went to twitter after everything went down, and said PREY 2 was canned because Human Head wouldn't let Bethesda buy them.
That Bethesda tried to back HH into a corner financially... holding back funding for the game until they accepted an offer for the studio.

Which doesn't surprise me. Bethesda pulled some crap with Arkane as well and other studios.

 

I did not know that. Thanks for the info. It is a shame. Loved the game.

 

How do we know if it would be best looking game?
It never got any real footage out etc?
That trailer can be nothing like real gameplay, we have seen this same thing at least 999 times.
Some video comes out -> all think game will look like that -> DOWNGRADE

 

Yes, because every single game that comes out in the industry always follows the same path a few games from Ubisoft have lain.

And yes, the trailer in that link... the LIVE ACTION trailer doesn't represent actual gameplay.
The pre-alpha gameplay footage released at E3 in 2011 on the other hand...

 

i would love this game to come alive, we need it.

 

That also doesn't mean it wouldn't be downgraded either, most of these games that release target render trailers are downgraded well before release when they realise they have bitten off more than they can chew.

That is likely why it was cancelled, a mediocre game with great visuals is more likely to get greeenlit than a great game with mediocre visuals.

It was cancelled because Bethesda tried to acquire the studio through milestone abuse. They didn't own Human Head's tech, even though it was based on id tech, so they couldn't take it to another studio. End of story. Try to keep your baseless speculation to yourself in the future.

 

Oh wow. First post and already getting mean. Agree with Redemption – until it is out, you can never be sure what it will look like. We’ve seen this too many times.

Meanness has nothing to do with it, just calling nonsense when I see it. You can agree with Redemption all you want, mate. The demo Damien posted was running on a 360 dev-kit, which barely any gameplay presentations can say. The end product looked even better which is why the lead graphics programmer is now in charge of rendering for Unreal engine 4. Toodaloo.

P.S. That analogy really, really doesn't work.
