I checked the registry to make sure it was cleaned after I uninstalled, and it was. Looking at it now it has the All Nodes and Bestviewoption entries with me adding them.

    Odd.

/edit it is actually greater then the resolution (2560x1440) I was able to enable with the DVI-D. I was just looking at some websites I frequent and one in particvular went from 4 columns at 2560x1440 to 5 columns in this unknown resolution.

However it shows 1920x1080, but I have no way to know the resolution it is running at.

I never had to disable it, and can't really fathom why would it be related to a driver install. :)

I've made it, it's working perfect on 4k :), with or without crossfire... Anyway I've just had time to try assetto corsa and it's working great (120 fps at 4k and 4x msaa), I was laughing when first saw it:roll: :nerd:
anyway I'm at work right now so tonight I will do more testing on more games :), and explain the step followed....

It seems that even if you don't enable Crossfire for applications without profile VSR is still broke in them:

The only solution if found to leave enable AMD CrossfireX ON and VSR working is by explicitely disabling it making a Crossfire profile:

The problem with the first command is it only works for one boot and you need to select F7 on each boot.

I tried to boot on normal mode disabling test mode after several reboots on Test Mode and VSR 4K working with:

    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

The system booted on normal mode but the drivers appears unsigned again!

If i apply bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON it reboots always on Test Mode and drivers appears always signed and working.

In this specific case if it's not turned off the driver installation is halted with an advice saying that Program Compatibility Assistant stopped it.

When PCA is disabled the driver install without problem.

I think your problem is that you have Windows 8 Secure Boot active, which doesn't allow unsigned drivers in the boot to run, unless in test signing mode.

Does this happen when you have booted with disabled driver signature enforcement (and PCA enabled)?

I have Windows 8 installed in legacy bios mode not UEFI.

This happen in test mode if PCA is enabled during install of this modded driver.

Really strange you're getting those issues then. :( Usually after disabling driver signature enforcement, you just get a screen like the one below, and windows proceeds without further issue.

Test mode and Disable Driver Signature Enforcement are not the same ;)

I saw this advice and accept it at some point but later it shows the PCA block advice.

Then this must be the problem.

I don't know and i really don't want to unninstall the driver to check it! :D

Is there an option to boot always on Disable Driver Signature Enforcement mode?

    Try this:

Download the 15.3 driver for win 7 64 from AMD.

Unzip the driver file to a folder enter this folder and you will see something like the left side of this screenshot:

Enter the "$_OUTDIR" folder and cut all folder inside and paste them one level up result must be like right side of the pic.

    Now inside this path:

    \Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF\B181663\

Paste the 3 files you unzip from this file:

    http://bit.ly/vsr_unlocker

After that try the method i used.

Maybe you need also to replace CU181646.cat i don't know.

    The file is here:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!gpVUwDCA!m3glQEqhA7YEJTF0CQM1mpR49IyHb8_lfsSqevK8Wvs

And the path to replace the original is this:

    \Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF

    Good luck!
