At the moment I have 103000 Pascals in my city.
It is usually around that :)

But with 12 gigs you can totally cache 100% of the textures for all game stages which totally quadruples fps [IMG]

Well Tesla K80 has theoretically 24gb vram, so this 32gb doesnt seem that far fetched..

That stuff he mentioned are Tesla powerhouse gpus anyway..

Normal Geforce won't have that for a looooong long time.

You won't need 12GB (let alone 32GB) in the next 2 years, the original Titan's 6GB is still more than enough for today's games (even @ 4K).

32GB? ROFLMFAO, maybe if someone writes a benchmark that stuffs the FB the same way CoD: AW does but short of that, no game is going to be using a 32GB any time soon.

Amazing isn't it that the day after Nvidia releases a relatively unimpressive card, they are already trying to sell you on the next one /sarcasm off

I doubt 32GB is hitting consumer cards anytime soon but, it sure would be swanky to apply insane amounts of AA :nerd:.

40x AA, where the difference can basically only be seen in the micrometers. Only for the highest of enthusiasts. (Be sure to have a Titan X 1000)

Exactly, only suckers run less than 32X AA :3.

The article is clearly talking about these features in reference to compute applications, not gaming. It was announced at GTC, which is literally a conference for developers who use graphics cards to do high powered computing. No one thinks 32GB is going to be necessary for gaming, hence nearly every single post here saying that.

Also I disagree about 6GB, there are people that will definitely be doing 4K surround setups. With the majority of games this year being the ones that were completely developed from the ground up for new consoles, this is going to be the first year where you start to see games exceed 4GB cards, or at least scale textures back to accommodate for them.

Also the Titan X was announced at the same conference on the same day. And yes, I think it's safe to say that every company tries to sell you another product after the first one. Nvidia's been doing it for 22 years.

I see no edit timestamp *whistles*. Back on topic, more VRAM is obviously coming down the line but I don't expect 32GB to be the norm anytime soon unless there are some big jumps with GPUs and 4K becomes the norm quickly.

32gb cards would make sense for the Quadro cards for CAD among other compute applications that would need extensive amounts of Vram. I would say for the gaming sense that Nvidia would release cards in the 4-8gb range.

32GB GPU would be handy if the system could share it instead of using DDR3/4, nice super fast 32GB GDDR5

Pascal brings both very fast 3D memory and NVlink.
NVlink which incorprates long awaited true unified memory

    Whether NVlink will be available in consumer market, that remains to be seen;
    somehow I doubt

It was the main topic at last year press conference, when they talked about Pascal instead of upcoming Maxwell this year, google it.

They said they'll have NVlink in consumer grade motherboards?
    Instead/next to PCI-e?

    I doubt that's true

From what I remember they said you need special mobo and that its not for normal consumer market. Since its meant for more then 2-3 gpus, we are "stuck" with pcie standard.

Well imo pcie3 and upcoming pcie4 is fast enough anyway, no?

you can nvlink 2 GPUs together to share resources, but you'll not get link to the CPU, so cards still have to have PCIe.
I am always thinking about price, making 2nd very fast bus connection to GPU to connect 2 cards and not using it unless you have 2 will be very waste of transistors.
