Steam authentication is down for a lot of people

So, I installed Windows 10 TP last night, installed Steam, and never got my verification e-mail.

I'm now locked out of my account because of Steam's atrocious authentication system, that only works with e-mail, which I can't even change.

Tried Steam Support, which just answered with a generic speech (whitelist the adresses blah blah). The support page now has a warning about the e-mail issue, so I guess it's a widespread issue.

I'm not blaming my e-mail provider because I never had any issue with it. Steam adresses are whitelisted, so I'm blaming Steam, not only for the issue, but for not having another way to authenticate.

Anyone else having this issue? It's my day off, it sucks.

 

You never thought that it could be an issue caused by the unreleased operating system you are using? I'm all for Microsoft releasing these preview versions to the public but people always expect them to work 100% and complain when they don't.

 

Same problem here. I'm using Win8.1 for what it's worth. I never received my verification code email earlier today when I needed it to access a site via steam.

 

It's not Windows 10, OS has nothing to do with the issue. This was a reinstall due to massive corruption, it worked fine on the original install.

Why would steam not sending a verification email have anything to do with OS. Its on steams end, Im having the same issue.

 

Mark it. Another reason why Steam has ruined gaming where they dictate whether you can play or not play your games.

Anyway, going for three days without access now. Never had this much trouble with Xbox/PSN. Starting to get really frustrated, Steam support still hasn't replied other than the generic message.

Out of curiosity, what's your e-mail provider?

 

Yeah no problems here either like Rflair. I'm using Outlook.com. Could be a problem with an email provider or volvo.

No apparent problems according to steam status either.

Well, it's over, seems they fixed it to everyone.

Just took them three days.

All praise Steam.

 

I never had a problem either,I don't think it was a widespread problem. Maybe all you squids should be living in the good Ol' U.S of A.

Gabe Newell has made it like this because you're suppose to switch over to SteamOS and not Windows 10.
