With current games to hit this 3.5 threshold on a single 970 you are already in unplayable frame times anyways. 35ms is around 25-30 FPS and that is unplayable. The only guys that have a legitimate concern are the 970SLI users but still to get to that 3.5GB threshold you are still dipping under 60FPS and at that point if you dial back to maintain 60FPS minimum you should still be golden.

Exactly, just don't bother with trolls and enjoy your card.

This is a pretty civil discussion about a very real memory allocation issue. If you love the card and are not worried in the slightest about potential performance impacts, then why even venture into these threads? I love my GTX970, but I'm also pretty disappointed by this at the same time. Gaming at 1440p, I may face issues in upcoming titles.. and maybe I won't. It's just a discussion.

On a single card you won't run into the issue. Read my post above the one you quoted.

sounds about right to me... but they wont accept they used to bitch about there gfx cards before they owned an gtx970 and moan about the crap ports for pc now, it seems everything is the gtx970's fault lol and nothing to do with these ports anymore which they loved to moaned about so much with there old gfx cards ..

The thing is there is no way you will know unless Nvidia offer a full refund.

At that point would you move to AMD, or would you pay the extra for the 980?

How would you feel if you had the same problems, but only 10% less which is likely not noticeable at very low framerates anyway.

I am there as well, I have seen far more complaining in this section in 2 weeks than in the 10 years combined. Part of the lure on nvidia cards is a nice tidy subsection at least for me. This section is worse now than the amd section back in the day.

4k is gaining steam and is coming. if you have a video card that is stuttering and hitching like crazy that makes it next to worthless. what we want is to have a card that does as it is supposed to and was represented to do. when we get to 4k then the difference between the gtx980 and gtx970 is going to be night and day. many games will start to use more ram, we just want cards that use ram properly so that we have a chance to at least get the try them out
nvidia did mislead us no matter how you look at it. something should be done, but wont because its nvidia and thats what they do- just take money and not worry about anything after cash has changed hands

I would not go 4k with no less than 3 video cards. Would have no problem buying 970`s either. The people here I trust have 970`s and don`t seem to have much fuss loading up 4gb.

If you consider going from 25FPS average to 30FPS average night and day okay.

I thought Hilbert corrected it. He had 52 than put 56 iirc. I didnt look at the reviews as the performance did not get worse with the slightly gimped specs.
