Performance is apparently pretty bad compared to HBAO+.

If it's using the same kind of SSAO (Martinish) they are trying to get to work in GeDoSaTo currently, then it's a pass for me personally.

I've tried it on FFXIII, and yes, performance is bad, and it doesn't look very good either :thumbdown

I just finished fully updating my NVIDIA master thread here on Guru3D:
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4908843&postcount=1

It should now contain every single piece of "quality" information from the various AA, AO and SLI threads :)
As usual, all the major changes have been included in the changelog at the bottom of the OP.
I have only included "0x0000002F" for HBAO+ in A Tribute to Donkey Kong Country, since it seems to me from the screenshot comparisons that "10" and "30" barely has any effect indoors:
    http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=10467544&postcount=6197

Also, I think it is safe to add Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory to the "not recommended" AO list:

Here's another dx8 title which driver-level AO is possible, love the game atmosphere but the fog system in this one breaks any possibility of AO implementation, i've also tried GeDo techniques using "zBufCompatibilityFlag 2" in conjunction with enb dx9 convertor, but every kind of AO bleeds alot, which instantly breaks the game immersion, seriously, i'm very frustraded with this one. ATM, HBAO+ in Silent Hill 2 is impossible without bleeding, since the issue is present in all compatible flags.

    No AO
    HBAO Flag 31
    Bleeding
    Bleeding

Atleast AA is not a problem since OGSSAA and SGSSAA can be forced without flags (an dx8 advantage i believe ), just create a text file and put the following command on it (without quotes)
"HACK DX_CONFIG_DRIVER_AA_NOT_BROKEN 1", then save it as "local.fix" (without quotes) in the main game directory. If not present, when forcing AA via driver, some game built-in effects like "Advanced Filters" (Depht of Field and Motion Blur) and "Lens Flare" will be disabled.

    EDIT #1

It's actually possible to get some decent AO with Reshade injection. But is very important to use ReVeil shader to fix the bleeding issues. MXAO + ReVeil shader gives some interesting results and it can be used as an alternative to driver forced HBAO+. The game itself has a lot of pre-baked AO anyway, but...

    NO AO
    Reshade MXAO + ReVeil
    Debug View

People previously mentioned they found something that worked fine without issues with Risen 3 but never posted screens or anything like that.

It'd be nice to have some resolution to that post.

I believe this is the Risen 3 post, you are talking about.
Would test "0x00000017" in Risen 3 myself, but personally I'm completely boycotting the game until it gets proper SLI support :3eyes:
Risen 2 scales perfect with SLI btw ;)

On a different note, perhaps it would be a good idea to reintroduce the "request queue" and add it to the OP, so newcomers to the HBAO+ thread will have an idea of where their efforts are best spent.
Otherwise I fear this excellent thread might be dying a little :(

Ah, well. People will contribute when they want to I guess.

How hard is it to make a proper post right? :|

"0x00060000" produces a very subtle effect. Haven't noticed any bleeding or flickering.

    1st comparison
    No AO
    HBAO+

    2nd comparison
    No AO
    HBAO+

    3rd comparison
    No AO
    HBAO+

Yes, those images are labelled correctly :)
In motion I still think HBAO+ looks best.
Ingame AO is far too strong, and looks kinda "black outlined" IMO.

Btw I now also found a very nice HBAO+ flag "0x00000019" for Verdun:

We can also add the DX11 version of Aliens vs. Predator (2010) to the not recommended HBAO+ list.
I tried all the official DX10+ AO flags as well as many "custom" combinations of AO bits, and only "0x00130000" and "0x000F0000" had any visual effect.

But these flags only apply subtle AO shading to the gun of the marine.
Fortunately ingame DX11 HDAO is quite decent, so this is not a big loss IMO.

Huh, so that most likely means that other Asura engine based games are also non-recommended.

And i was just going to try finding one for Sniper Elite 3.
    Oh well...

No, that doesn't have to be the case at all.
Forced ambient occlusion is very different in this regard compared to for example custom SLI or AA profiles.
