GTX 970 Owners Thread

What is the temperature difference between your top and bottom card at load?

 

What is the difference when your cards are running at the same temperature?

 

5C.

Top is capping out around 70C and bottom sits around 65C.

If I go down to 1080p from 1440p both cards sit in the mid 50's.

 

Mine is only hitting 58 on top and 55 on bottom

just checked and at idle they are 0.012v difference

 

Thanks, I was curious how GTX970 SLI blower style cooler temperatures compared to the dual and triple fan cooler temperatures.

What is your fan profile? Iam 80% @ 55°C and my single GE runs as high as 61°C.

 

Not bad at all for SLI. Simon and I are really close, around 19,800 I run OC'd. For the older platform you're on I'd be happy.

Your graphics score is aprox 500 - 1000+ lower than Simons and Ragins.
What are your GPU overclock settings?

 

Possibly using an old driver??? Simon is using .6 and I've got the .8 beta driver. We also have the X99 platform which may be helping quite a bit. I pushed my CPU to 4.6ghz today stable so I was able to go from 19,800 to the 20k mark. When I OC'd these cards to the same spec as I did now with my old X79/3820 platform my VGA score was at best 25,300. Now I can hit over 26k with this X99.

 

I always reasoned that the difference was due to temperature. The hotter card is less efficient so it requires more.

 

I didn't think of that, new driver do sometime give performance boost.

Getting close!! I have faith! I see you updated your driver that looks like it helped from your last bench as well as got 10mhz more on the VGA core and almost another 200mhz outa your CPU. You are on the threshold my friend.

Just wanted a small help from you guys.I just bought GTX 970(Zotac) few days back.
I am some queries:
1.I am currently using Corsair CX-500.Is that okay?Its has 34 amps on +12v rail.
2.Which is the best overclocking software MSR AB or anyother ?
3.What is the maximum core clock I can achieve without increasing voltage.Currently I have 1076 base core clock.
Your replies could help me out as I am a noob in this respect.

 

Using AB, start by slowly increasing your core clock. I usually do this 50mhz at a time and once at +100 go to 25mhz at a time running a benchmark in between. Then I do the same with memory once I find I artifact or crash on the max core setting. When you find your max settings for both, back them down 15-20mhz and you should be safe. As far as voltage goes, I don't increase this until I find my max without it. Then I start to slowly add voltage and increase speed slowly usually at 5mhz per voltage increase. I've typically found whether dealing with a CPU or GPU that once you need to increase voltage you're usually down to the "nitty-gritty" and near you OC top end.

Your PSU should be ok. My only worry is that CPU takes quite a bit of wattage. It will tell you if you need more PSU by black screening and other odd happenings.

I went back to driver 344.60 and went back to precision X -The new 5.26 X and boy it just ran its best # yet
