I see here a lot of anger. Those who bought GTX 970/980 knew that AMD is overdue for release of something acceptable.
This new GPU be it 380x/390x is 20% faster than 290x while eats 30% less power.
And if those measurements were done properly then it delivers 9% higher performance per watt than GTX 980.

Considering how many people bought GTX 980, then if this is at least 100$ cheaper I can see a lot of happy owners.

I personally am more interested in clock and transistor count of this GPU as I see presented results as very good.

They are the ones that said the R9 285 was going to outperform the 280X..no?
They are so totally legit leakers.

Im just happy I got a strong gpu, OC'ed 780 should be enough for 1080p @ next -gen (U4E, etc) next year.. :)

If 390X is only 20-30% faster then its kinda Slow or is it 380X? this would look more logical..
I mean GM200 big Maxwell chip will be faster, apparently at least 50% faster then 780Ti, so ~ 40% faster then GM204.

Although those early leaked SisSoft sandra benchmarks showed 390X had more grunt then GM200..

Wasn't the 380X supposed to be in the 980 range?

390X is supposed to compete with 980 Ti / next nvidia card range.

980Ti as in GM200? I think we will see another line for that.

If it's on 28nm and doesn't have HBM then it's pretty impressive results. If not the Maxwell refresh will really chew it up.

I deleted a few posts here because it was starting to turn into a flame war.

One warning everyone, let's not let it get that far.

Oh yeah, i forgot about that, if that was the card shown here, then surely it would be more than 16% faster than the 980.

Because they f* every owner in their a**. It was first and last time I bought new Nvidia GPU as early adopter.

And I payed much more than that, right Europe?

Why everyone is saying that its going to be 20nm GPU?

I've only heard that its going to be made using GloFo 28SHP node, heck even Carrizo-L is 28nm so my guess is AMD has decided to skip 20nm altogether and wait for finfet.

Oh well, those power figures can be taken with grain of salt or they really managed to pull rabbit out of their ass.

It doesn't excite me either nor did the 980/970.

I'm further behind than you are, and nothing released over the last year has excited me.... Hell, I'm getting ready to switch back to my 660SLI.....lol

I had a 7870, didn't excite me, then a 760, didn't excite me, then an R9 290, that did excite me, then a 295X2, that excited me until I installed it, now a 980, and this thing does excite me, best card I've ever owned by miles

What did you think? That Titans would last long as top performers? Anyone familiar with GPU development over last decade knows that it only takes a year or two for a mid-range card to outperform the top single card, even a Titan. GPUs are the quickest depreciating component there is. I laughed when the Titan came out, because I knew that much sooner than later I would have a cheap card that equals it, and sure enough...

Who buys a GPU purely on the basis that they hope it will be the fastest GPU for as long as possible?

Not me, I buy a GPU on the basis that it will play every game I want it to for as long as possible, and I like the fact that new GPUs quickly out-perform the previous top of the range model, gives me a reason to upgrade again

If this really is the 380x, then im gonna ditch my 7950 crossfire for it.

Year or two? Right, it was obsolete after few months. I had 580s prior to Titans, for me it was time to upgrade (120Hz gaming), no need to lecture me about GPU development and depreciation of products. Nobody expected such drastic downturn, because Nvidia has never milked one architecture so much.

I always buy 2 of the best cards available. They tend to last longer than gpus that are physically altered from the x80 full gpu. Initial price is higher but I upgrade less often that way. If I had 2 regular 780 I would of jumped to 2 980.
