Running the fc3 flag will fix the darkness.

Reading both this thread and the AC Unity thread makes me simply realise what a complete mess Ubisoft has made of both of their latest PC releases. In fact it reaches far beyond what I originally thought.

Ironic that they are both threads I started and both have a low 3.00 average due to so many polarising opinions. Not exactly a golden time to be an owner of Ubisoft games on PC.

    Back on topic.

The scope bug came back with a vengeance last night and this time it was while simply using my mouse rather than a controller. The game can play fine for a while but then at any point while engaged with the enemy if I just happen to aim down my sight scope and press a shoot button the game freezes hard with a repeating sound stutter in the background.

This is what I get when it crashes...

    ^^ Doesn't look like it's crashing the exe/game

Tried disabling FRAPS for a test?

for me FC4 runs fine.. but I run game exe as admin , also tweaked gamerprofile.xml with this >>>

    Open% USERPROFILE% \ Documents \ My Games \ Far Cry 4 \ GamerProfile. xml with notepad.
    Find DisableLoadingMip0 = "0" and change it to DisableLoadingMip0 = "1"
    Save.

Also advise the administrator to run the game, it needs to create a shortcut from the folder of the game, so you can add an initial skip commercials, add the command "-skipintro" item in the "object"

also set Buffered frames to 3 in nvidia cpanel (for farcry4.exe only) ...

AC:unity is the worse game ever made :bang: (bad port/stutters)

iirc - earlier in this thread, someone posted screen comparisons with that tweak, and using it drastically lowered texture quality

    EDIT -

Managed to get this game running at 100fps constant on Ultra settings 1920*1080 and my card is running at stock 1058mhz :)

I used the MIPS trick and 1.4 patch. Turned up the ingame brightness alittle along with contrast, uses old FC3 flag and all is good.

    Also set Framebuffer to 3.
Smooth with no problems. Can post a video if people want to see what its like in Dark areas as well as rest of game.

Are you not seeing any texture quality loss using the MIPS trick like in my links above?

An open world, online, RPG from Ubisoft. I will not be touching that thing for at least a year! Even though it's the one title I've been overly excited for since it was announced!

As I posted earlier in the thread, yes, you will see a small degrade in texture quality.
But, you will keep certain features that High texture detail enables.

Such as specular mapping, tessellation on rock walls and such.
If you just drop texture detail to medium those features turn off, but the overall texture quality doesn't change much.

It could basically be which ever you feel like giving up. A bit of texture detail, or a few features.

Ah right, that explains the lack of FPS gain in surround when I dropped from ultra to medium then, only when I dropped to low it improved

They removed it because it was causing more issues and will re-release prolly this coming week.

say what you want about ubi games, but their gpu /cpu scaling as can be seen in the online benchies posted are always spot on.
imo prolly the best gam ever made.
the wingsuit is better than any batman i played. (when you take the wingsuit for a spin the vram usage usually goes up around 700mb or so :p
which is understandable, as view distance changes.
best animals in a game ever and perhaps best ever ai too.

Getting bad stutter here with a GTX980. GPU usage spikes badly when stutter happens.. even with prefer maximum performance enabled. I'm also getting odd darkness and bad lighting like most people.
