Any ideas on horror movies that wouldn't be about supernatural and wouldn't be B-graded slashers either? More of a psychological aspect?

3 good ones off the top of my head are:

A Nightmare on Elm Street (the 1984 version)

Friday the 13th (the 1980 version)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the 1974 version)

Cabin in the woods is hardly a horror movie.. i havent laughed that much since the first scary movie :) Great film tho.. would recommend it to everyone :)

    My top list is
    1. Event Horizon
    2. The Mist (Cause of the ****ed up ending)
    3. The Divide (2011) (underrated movie.. the story is horrible but got my vote cause the movie is all kind of f**ked up)

I thought The Divide was a real good movie. And the story was pretty spot on of what would happen to humanity in such a situation.

Occulus was a sleeper. I was expecting that movie to be crap and it turned out to be fantastic.

Well yeah.. i would somewhat agree.. if they only keept the story to the paranoia and the phsycological it would be a great movie, but when the
    White dressed soldiers that came
it kinda ruined it for me at least.. If i look past that and only focuse on the other stuff.. than yeah.. great movie. Still ****ed up tho :)

I read The Mist years ago and loved it, probably one of my all time fav (short) stories... but the movie was on a whole different level.

During an interview Steven King was quoted saying "I wish I'd thought of that" when asked his impressions on the ending. lol

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, if you count it as a horror.

Jacob's Ladder is fantastic, it was huge inspiration for Silent Hill.
It's about Vietnam War veteran whose war experiences are cause of really disturbing, bizzare hallucinations that he tries to figure out.

The best horror films for me are those from the Asian region. The Ring,The Eye, The Grudge and the likes. Seems more realistic in terms of the story and the effects.

The Babadook, rated 96% fresh on RT.

I'm only halfway through and already freaking out. Def not the best movie to watch while tripping.:eek3::eek:

I'm sorry. The following film is nothing like OP requested, but the guy above is to blame because his nick reminded me of certain director, and his film:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Short_Film_About_Killing

It's the darkest film I have ever seen. An impression which had been intensified with an unpleasant experience in RL, 15 yr ago or so, on the day I had watched it.

Horror films normally made me laugh when trying to scare.

But this one has one hell of a good scare: http:// www. imdb .com/title/tt0059646

A Short Film About Killing can get to your nerves too, as already mentioned. A Serbian Film too.

But the one film that has me holding the chair is: http://www. imdb .com/title/tt0114369

David Fincher just can't get better than that.

edit: I forgot this tour-de-force atmospheric masterpiece: http://www. imdb .com/title/tt0290673

Not exactly horror genre, but won't make you laugh, I guarantee.
