Did you use the AMD Setup?
The alternate installer has less problems you should try using that instead.
if you are using the alternate installer then you can try unstalling with DDU if you haven't done. Btw, I have the same graphic card as you so it should
be possible for you to get the driver up and running for Windows 10.

Sorry, I think I may have misread your post. Were you restating that even
after re-installing the driver performance remains the same?

    Other Thoughts
The alternate installer is similar to Device Manager but works a bit
better when installing the display driver.

As you now Microsoft's driver isnt for gaming so I unistalled it and installed modded driver with AMD installer it seems HD 4300/4500 series in device manager but FPS is just like original amd drivers on 8.1 laggy and low.(It wasnt laggy and low on earlier Tech. P. build)So I tried to install manually from device manager with inf file but it didnt work too.I installed original 13.9 drivers from installer and device manager but it gone worse. Now I removed all drivers and have unknown VGA.Which driver should I install?

Ok, install any display driver and restart your system. After doing
so, locate the DX9 Switcher folder in my driver package. Next
run the iLegacy Performance Switcher and choose the install option.
After completing that step select performance Switcher C by typing
in C and hitting enter. Test the game for any noticeable performance
    change.

    Other Thoughts
if you suspect your slow performance may be due to process using
your resources (CPU/GPU) run a simple cleanup utility and select option
1 or 2 then exit the program without selecting an option.

i have to kinda side with this post for gaming , i have tried various builds of yours from time to time dellon but have always had to revert to the 10.2 legacy driver for stability in various games specially opengl ones.
I believe 10.2 was the last driver from ati that truly supported dx9 stuff for the ati x1xxx series.

But if there are games that require dx 10[hardware wise] then there is no driver that can get that game to run.

Might try another build of yours again soon thanks for supporting the older cards still dellon .
I wish dna would do it but their last support for the dx9 cards were the dna ati 10.2 legacy

It's a dead end trying to coax drivers to work correctly on Win8/Win10.

Why ? Well...the starting base is flawed at the outset.

The older stuff out there is much faster (and less buggy) in legacy crossfire ran on the right OS to take the drivers.

For instance I play IL2 a lot (OpenGL), and it runs on Catalyst 8.9 just fine flawlessly. This is on Win7 x64.

Yes it's a Vista64 driver only offering WDDM 1.0 forced on Windows 7 x64 but who cares. Aero still works.

With anything above 8.10 and the game either doesn't work in opengl or crashes to hell.
Bioshock, Fallout 3, and oblivion performance also go down the crapper after 8.10.

This includes into 9.x, 10.x and 11.x series combined.

Also anything above 10.10 and Toca Race driver 3 turns into a stutter lag fest on anything afterwards.

I even ran Crysis 2 from 2011 on Windows XP 32-bit of all things with Catalyst 8.12 without issues nor bugs.

This is all with a 4870x2, the primary legacy crossfire card. You don't NEED modern drivers that do next to NOTHING for your card. And all the Windows 7 drivers are just as busted as the Windows 8 driver. The early Vista drivers however WORK ironically.

Even the default 8.12 Windows 7 driver isn't as fast as the official 8.12, it's an earlier codebase. After 8.12 on XP they broke 2D GDI, and although fixed in 9.2 never recovered to the same level ever again. Performance nosedived after 9.4 on XP, old legacy was chopped and Win7 came in.

So the games, they run just fine for me on the old, it's an illusion to have to have newer drivers. I'm probably using drivers older for my 4870x2 than what even the DX9 only legacy crowd is using around here on a 4870x2 without profiles even, and I'm satisfied.

I don't need OGL 3, or flash hardware acceleration (it's broken anyway), if you have a quad to do the rendering, you don't have to suffer from the infliction of green artifacts or crashes anyway from all the broken drivers.

When everything works on ATI, the lesson is that you do not upgrade the driver. Ever, unless you have a compelling reason to do so because things will start to break.

My point is that contrary to belief, older drivers actually work and don't crash your games nearly half as much including new and old games before all the "optimisations" came in that screwed everything up and made things crash.

At least in my 4870x2's case, the most problematic card there is.

    No Desktop display after games

Thanks for tips. After your suggestion, I keeping 'lock' as selected.

    I reinstall Win8.1 (because of I I broke the permission settings :).
Of course, Win. re-Updating... Again, it's came black screen if Fast startup is closed. Other solution is worked: deleting \system32\fntcache.dat for fix. Apparently, Microsoft doesn't care Win8.1 patches. Probably they devote to Win10.

Another black screen issue: I tried two old game: AirXonix and IceAge2. Both properly works. But strange situation happened after quits from games. The desktop can't display. Only mouse pointer is live. More strange. Actually also the Windows is live. Because I ran AnyDesk (a TeamViewer alternative). I can control to this black screen laptop from PC. whatever I did, I can't rerefresh desktop of the laptop. Actually Win8 is working. I did shutdown from AnyDesk. And the display is back. Purple screen displayed when shutdown. Strange.
I changed atiumdagA.dll and atiumdagB.dll (from Registry). Unfortunately other file can't boot Win8.

I tried DWM suspending trick with PsSuspend.exe. No working.

Could you know a desktop refresh utiliy to based-DirectX? My purpose creating a batch file. Such as:
    @echo off
    airxonix.exe
    desktoprefresh.exe

P.S.: I'm sorry, my bad english.

    Hello,

I own an older video card - ATI Radeon HD 4350 PCI edition (not PCI-Express, but old classic PCI !!! )

Let me say that everything works. Except the flash video acceleration on the web. I always get green screen when video plays. I have tried many different versions of ATI/AMD drivers - older and newer, original and modified, legacy etc. OS is Windows 8.1 - on two different PCs, one with 32 bit, second with 64 bit version, the situation is the same, even with automatically installed driver by the OS.

One PC has integrated AMD 3000 chip and there everything works out of the box. It looks that maybe this integrated video chip uses also the same PCI connection, but it looks that it has more power.

Is there any solution of the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not done setting up the driver for Previous Legacy Users. I implemented
support on a minimum level until I pick up an x1000 GPU to add support via
the profile system. Even though support for new games may not be possible
improving the driver compatibility for older games should be possible if
the profile system is implemented correctly.

    Other Thoughts
Even though support for new games may not be possible in most cases,
improving the driver compatibility and performance for older games should
be possible if the profile system is implemented correctly.

    Note:
This Applies to all Legacy and Previous legacy only. HD 5000 and HD 6000 Users along with Switchable Graphics Users should still be able to receive
support until AMD Drops support for those card. When that happens
support for those cards will drop to Legacy and Previous Legacy level.

Well, I agree with you, Windows 8/8.1 was busted from the onset so
things that worked previously in Windows 7 does not work well on
Windows 8/8.1. When I say this I'm referring to Legacy Users Flash
hardware acceleration and Bsods due to system driver. However, despite
these minor problems both bugs can be workaround. Support for new games
may not be possible but the driver can be optimized to work with games
and applications that worked at one point without requiring users input
    (Manually Settings things up ).

CPU Hardware acceleration is great, but I think a majority of Users
running a Legacy Setup don't have a CPU capable of running 1080p
without any strain. Btw, I've seen some Intel i5 CPU run 4K videos
smoothly without exceeding 20% or lower of the CPU resources.
(it could be lower but I'm not sure). How does your Quad Core
    CPU Fair when running it?

    Other Thoughts
Windows 10 Support does not exist as the OS is still being Tested.
if Microsoft improves the support for Legacy Devices there won't be
a need for a new driver. If the OS turns out to be broken, it may be
possible to patch things to a certain extent.

I think Explorer.exe may have crashed after you exited the game. Try
    relaunching explorer.exe from task manager.

I tested a number of drivers with the game but none of them had any
effect. When making changes to the game configurations I did notice
some changes in the color of the multicolored bug. It would appear in
a singe color or the bug would show up black. However nothing got rid
of the artifact bug. This could be resolved via a driver update but I think
it's a bug that the developers needs to resolve as some users using updated
drivers reported the same bug. Another reason would be, the end of
support for legacy products, if the developers are officially supporting
legacy product they will need to make adjustments to the game so it
can correctly utilize drivers containing support for legacy users.

So, normal media playback works with Windows Media Player
    when playing 1080p Videos?

Well the first thing you do on AMD legacy if you are going to use it for HTPC use (at least on Windows 7 and below) is to turn OFF all the Video enhancements in CCC.

On mostly all the old last 5 years drivers you will have green lines on the borders of videos either at the bottom or right hand side if edge enhancement isn't disabled completely. There used to be a reg hack for this on the oldest drivers but it's not needed since it was included in CCC.

The way CCC installs as default will break the videos with green lines because it has edge enhancement enabled, everything must be disabled or off, then the anomalies with green lines on videos stop yay.

Also for games like Skyrim from 2011 it's commonly believed you need at least 11.11c+ or the faces flash on 4870x2 crossfire/crossfire is busted and uses only 1 gpu.

Infact you don't....Skyrim DX9 runs without a hitch on 9.8 with faster FPS to boot IN crossfire as well. But I wouldn't recommend the 9.8 or 9.12 DX10 components as they crash and freeze IE11 with apphangB1 errors.

This kind of driver also fixed fallout 3 HDR+water bug as long as you delete atimgpud.dll from the fallout 3 directory. They all use the same kind of Gamebryo engine, after the next few drivers Oblivion got busted as well and was never the same since. This is on Win7 x64. XP drivers act differently.

For flash video use and my Quad, I'd rather use driver components that don't have hardware accelerated flash at all, because a quad is good enough to decode the videos, while the 4870x2 does the accelerated rendering.

This way as a side effect you can bypass the nasty UltraHD BSOD which doesn't happen on Windows XP btw as long as you stay under 10.2.

There are too many bugs with the AMD video components and video playing to encounter along the way. Blueray L5.1 playback didn't get supported till 10.4 even though Nvidia already had it, and even then didn't work right and it took up to 11.12 to fix it. SD DXVA is broken from 10.2 to 10.11 inclusive.

I've mostly found solace in much older drivers where everything works properly before the days of crossfire "profiles" down into the 9.x and 8.x series, although I wouldn't recommend anything below 9.5 or skyrim will go to a blank screen when you jump into the water.

Sorry, I missed your post in my previous reply. The driver comes
with two installers. The Normal AMD Setup and the Alternate Installer.
If you have previously used the AMD Setup, please try the Alternate
    Installer instead.

    Note:
Before using the Alternate Installer you should Uninstall your
current driver using the included Cleanup Utility or Display
    Driver Uninstaller (DDU).

That's good to know, I remember seeing this bug in Catalyst 9.xx Series
build. Though not all users experienced it as it was a device specific bug.

Profiles can be created specifically for those games, that way you would
be able to make use of older drivers. I think It would be a better
approach than having a dll stored in every folder per game. However that's
only if the profile system is implemented correctly.

The Profile System I'm working on is a System that utilizes dll's from all
drivers. I don't plan on making it driver specific but it is currently setup
as such since it makes things easier to test. Plus, I'm still working on
improving device detection as I don't consider the method I'm using
to be efficient when it comes to correctly detecting GPU's. Although
it's currently capable of detecting All GPU's except Dynamic Switchable
Graphics it still needs work. Btw, applying Fixes and Patches is
    another possibility.

This doesn't apply to all drivers. I did resolve this in a few of my recent
driver updates. Though I can't remember when. But even though that
bug did get resolved the Green Screen bug in UltraHD remains, this only
applies to legacy users though. So disabling Hardware acceleration would
be necessary to play UltraHD Videos on a capable processor.

I don't plan on utilizing Drivers from older build for dxva purposes unless
it's absolutely necessary (May not happen at all as I can't think of reason
to do so at the moment).

I don't play 1080p videos on the PC, but I think it works.
Last I tried to play HD video in SMPlayer, it wasn't very smoothly, but it worked.
I think the problem is only with flash, where I get green screen....

One way of working around that bug would be disabling hardware acceleration
however, by doing so your computer may not be able to handle videos that
    above 480p.

Another possible way would be Re-Seating your Graphic Card to make sure there is direct contact with your PCI Slot.

If none above methods work you may want try installing Catalyst
11.12 WHQL. This driver can be found 64Bit 32Bit

    Other Thoughts
Although installing Catalyst 9.xx drivers may resolve the Green Screen
bug, it would be similar to disabling hardware acceleration. (It's known
to use CPU Hardware acceleration for videos).

    Another Thought
Make sure to use Uninstaller such as Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)
when uninstalling drivers. The default version does not completely clean
the system and cause issues when the user moves from driver to driver.

dellon i was looking into gaming side of things and it seems for x1xxx series

the opengl driver provided by the 10.2 legacy is the final one that will work anything after it will not work (6.14.10.8545)

    is that true ?
    http://feedback.wildfiregames.com/report/opengl/device/MOBILITY RADEON X1400

i am looking into what direct3d our series is capable of supporting just in case here is other details from the dna ati 10.2 legacy last release for the dx9 cards
    Driver Packaging Version 8.593.100-100210a-095951E-ATI
    2D Driver Version 8.01.01.882
    Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0647
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.8545

i have tried a lot of catalyst packages upto 13.2 they all seem to have some or the other issues with windows or games.

you can simply drop the support for x1xxx series if they are limited to those drivers , i believe anything after it will not be good.

^ I had smooth installation on build 9879. (Well not really smooth because of one BSOD and that driver from MS.)

After updating to 9879, Windows automatically installed the driver from MS.
Had to uninstall it, then scan for changes.
I then installed the old driver from Device Manager's "Let me pick" and told me to reboot.
After rebooting, driver's not working properly as I thought.
So I uninstalled the old driver from Device Manager and again scanned for changes.

I then used the cleanup from here to remove all AMD softwares.
And proceeded to install V6 driver using AMD setup.
During the installation of AMD device driver, screen flickered and the driver is installed since my resolution became native.
But after my resolution became native, bam, BSOD.

After reboot, Windows again installed the driver from MS.
Uninstalled it, scanned for changes and the driver I installed is now automatically being used.
I then proceeded to reinstall using AMD setup. (without uninstalling anything)
The installation now was smooth and installed perfectly.

So yeah, I installed it on my end. :)

This driver won't be utilizing new OpenGL or Directx components for
Previous Legacy or Legacy Users. Instead it will be Profiling older
components to improve driver compatibility for both System and
Applications along with any other possible fixes I can Implement.
These optimization may contain performance fixes for some
applications depending on the level optimization for each software.

    Note:
Keep in mind , this does not apply to all Legacy Users as it is possible make
use of newer driver components for Switchable Graphics Users within
the Profile System. In other words, these users will be able to achieve a higher level of compatibility and performance fixes.

What bug did you experience during Install? BTW, Windows 10 has a bug
in which it gets stuck in User Mode. As a result the System is unable
to gain any administrative access. Usually a restart will resolve that bug.

This time around installation was smooth on my end. But, the Package
I'm using is a bit different from what was released months ago, so the
execution of things could slightly be better.

Windows 8.1 or 13.1? Btw did your system attempt to install the
latest driver for your HD 5000 Series or your HD 4000 Series?
Ahh, did you turn off Windows Driver Update? This can be done
via the AMD Setting Optimizer or the Driver Cleanup Utility.

It's imperative anyway for legacy cards that you need to stay on OGL 3.2 and below (aka 10.4a and down) to have a hope in hell of quad-fire scaling of OGL apps in crossfire, if your running more than 1 legacy card such as 4870x2 and ilk...

10.10e was the last truly threaded gl driver anyway, not that it matters as da old stuff doesn't work.

As an added bonus on 10.4a and below as well as crossfire benefits, all the old games work... :)

Your not going to be able to play rage or anything on those sets unlike 11.9+, but if you did want to common sense tells you to go get a better card anyway.

OpenGL has never been AMD strongpoint, nevertheless...

The last stable driver for 4K (nevermind older cards) was 10.6, anything after this is just a complete waste o time in one way or another.

Blueray and flash playback is A ok on 10.6.

Various games CTD at random on newer sets, They are slow...and laggy as hell and have nasty surprises just waiting around the corner to pop up at random.

This is in legacy crossfire, single cards may well do fine on later sets, but as I see it as if it all works on crossfire, then single should be solid as a rock too at least...

I don't run the latest drivers on my 4870x2. Far from it. But I don't crash either, and everything just works.
