Intel removed support for the 7 series from the driver, however it is still fully compatible with the 7 series chipset. The only way you can install it on the 7 series is to manually install the driver through device manager, select 8 series, and it works. The reason for this is the controller is basically the same with the 8 series, Intel just removed the 7 series because 'they can'.

Wonder if this has the excessive load/unload cycle problem still ?

Im still at 12.9.4 for now until they fix it, if.. But I saw they're aware of it, few posted this bug @ intel forums.

Didnt you ask about one HDD issue not so long ago - clicking/parking sounds?

It happens only @ certain sata2 disks, at least so I saw..

It happens on my Samsung F3, it's not currently in the PC now tho so I can't yet test it with these new drivers, but I can't see it helping as the clicking was during BIOS init not in Windows.

Yes I have the same disk and once it starts clicking it doesn't stop, yes even in bios (guess it does something to s.m.a.r.t). It stopped after I swapped Disk sata ports and uninstalled rst 13.x.. Last time I tried was some early 13.2, dunno now.. Although one guru3d member said its enough just to unplug PSU (no ports swap), but I didn't test that yet.

Another sata2 Hitachi 500gb is ok.

Is the same true for the 6 Series?

    Not true.

Installed on my Z77 motherboard fine - also updated the OROM to 13.5.0.2118 without issue.

Are you sure the driver actually installed, and not just the application side of things. If you install just by running the setup exe, you may find that under the device manager the driver won't have updated. If you are running RAID, then it is supported in the driver inf. Read the first post, 7 series isn't in the driver inf. It can be safely force installed though :).

Yes it is showing as installed in device manager.

I am using RAID0 on Windows 8.1 which uses the iaStorA.sys file.

I have not tested AHCI mode.

Ah okay! That why :). The driver INF fully supports RAID on the 7-Series chipsets etc, just they 'left out' the 7-Series AHCI driver reference in the INF. It's still compatible, I believe they just want people to upgrade .

So yes, you are right, since you are running RAID you can just run the installer and it will update, force install is only required with AHCI.

    thats just silly.

7 series are still being sold.

    intel should still provide support.
