Now able to use my sound card with the new Asus 0801 BIOS for the RVE

 

Still getting those glitches even with the new settings.

I suspect it may be connected to the PCI SATA card I put in recently (Via VT6421A chipset). I did this because my Samsung HD204UI 2TB HDD was having trouble spinning up and I was advised that the Intel chipset on my Z97-A might have problems with this particular drive. It seems a bit strange that such a common drive would have such a problem with a common chipset but I certainly haven't had the problem since connecting it to the ViA card but I can't put up with these glitches either, so I might just have to buy a WD Red to replace the Samsung HDD :bang:

 

Well I thought my 4.7 ghz Oc with 1.26V was stable but when went to rip a Blu-ray movie for my sister to put on her tablet I got a blue screen of death during the process. Also I have been having a weird issue while Windows is trying to load my PC shuts down and I have to turn it back on again. Which makes me believe that my CPU OC was causing it because it happens once every other day which means I do not think it is my PSU because it would be happening more often.

 

If it WMEA 0x124 then yes need more cpuv., 1.26 then try 1.265v, also add more cpu current 120% (digi+), ram current 110% just to be safe and more cache voltage if you're using manual adaptive, extra vccsa - cpu system agent can help too 0.040v+ offset is a good middle ground at higher OC 4.6ghz+.

And higher Vccin input voltage or eventual by some ROG mobos, I noticed the newest bios made less aggressive LLC- auto load on vccin, now its best to be at exact 0.5v ratio. 1.265v then use vccin @ 1.77v.

 

Remind me again why I disabled that SVID communication thing? Can't say I've noticed a difference apart from the correct wattage not being reported.

What does it actually do?

 

Thanks for your help but I am just going to leave my CPU @ 4.4ghz. It is plenty fast enough to fit my needs and it is a massive increase from my previous CPU. I may try it again someday but not right now.

 

With VR fault management It prevents voltage tripping @ integrated cpu VRM's, combined with SVID - input voltage disabled it can also lower main cpu temperature and enhance cpu OC.

Reading on-line and getting contradicting info.

My question is:

I've currently got my UNCore on the default 3.9Ghz, is it worth trying higher? Tips for doing so, if it's worth it?

 

4.2 is around the sweet spot, going more doesn't really do much

 

Okey dokey. I'm assuming I won't need too much voltage for that small increase?

 

Will too low an Uncore limit the max core OC?

For example, I'm quite surprised that given I can do 4.6Ghz stable @ 1.215v I can't seem to get 4.8Ghz stable even at 1.29v.

I know every CPU has it's limits, and 4.6Ghz could be this ones' limit, but could, theoretically, increasing Uncore increase the chances of the core going higher?

 

No, higher uncore will limit it further.. Judging by your low 4.6ghz voltage I would say uncore 4.2ghz needs ~ 1.14v adaptive.


For cpu OC 4.8ghz I think you will have to raise up 1.32 -1.36v. What do you need for 4.7ghz?

 

Didn't even really try too hard on 4.7Ghz to be honest, went straight to 1.25v and it crashed Prime95 after about 10 minutes so I figured it can't be a million miles away so went right for 4.8Ghz. Tried 1.29 and again, booted fine, but prime crashed.

I did all that in about 10 minutes, it wasn't a serious effort.

 

I think 4.7ghz would need ~ 1.27 - 1.284v, 4.8ghz ~ 1.335 -1.35v..
1.35v is still "safe" for Devils Canyon


Also try realbench2 multithreaded benchmark part, it will stress more then prime and heat less.

 

Yeah, forgot to mention I'm on adaptive voltage so even tho the VID is 1.214 it does rise to 1.224 in prime. 1.232 when on that weird AVX version, but I don't use that now.

It did boot at 1.29 and prime did run, so I might even need 1.31- 1.33.

OK, currently running at 4.2Ghz uncore now. Booted, which is always a good start lol

Left voltage on auto, seems to be 1.2v

 

Wow, goes to 1.280 when under load.
