The Evil Within from Bethesda (Shinji Mikami)

Holy crap game is hard. Ammo is random and rare even on lower difficulty and they hit quite hard.

Chapter 4, now its getting interesting.

 

There is a film grain slider in the game.
Also, you can disable the film grain completely by editing the cfg file.

 

I agree, it's exhausting reading through some of these posts. Game is amazing so far. It's like the spiritual successor to RE4.

 

Not that I have encountered. Game is running fine, must lower the film grain although it isnt a bad effect per se and I can see some people liking it..

Not noticed any fps issue running with smaa and rest maxed. (the joy of being @1920x1200 with a 970).

Hmm anyone tried to run this game perfectly uncapped?

 

I had never problems with ammo and im playing hardest dif. for now. You seem to forget to punch and hit boxes, like in RE.

 

I didn't even know you could do that until I did it by accident and found a whole bunch of ammo by mistake. Now I'm going around punching every box I see.

It's a habit I carried into this game from Dead Space.
See a box... punch/stomp it. See a dead body... punch/stomp it.

 

Can you stomp? Well hit the bodies...been burning them all..

 

What's the point of burning bodies exactly? I feel I missed a tutorial message

 

Some are not dead and could grab & kill you.


There was one trailer @guru3d news, it kinda revealed everything, almost too much :devil:

 

For instance, shotgun 3-5 enemys, they fall, run to them, burn one, all get burned, you succesfully killed 3-5 enemys with 1 shotgun-shell and 1 match.

Or like -TJ- wrote, and also some are blocking your way.

Yes you can. In late game you have to melee and stomp.

 

Yeah. It depends on the situation, but at times he will stomp instead of punching.
It's the same melee attack, just on some things it makes more sense to stomp on it. And I'm glad the developers actually put an animation in there for it.

It really depends on the situation.
If you stealth kill an enemy, you don't have to worry about it. Same if you blow their head completely off.

But, occasionally you'll drop an enemy and they won't actually be dead. They will just lay on the ground until you get close.
Other times there will be bodies laying on the ground, most won't do anything. But some will attack if you get to close or trigger an event. Burning them before they get the chance can save you.

Also, aim for their legs. Shot them in the leg, they'll drop to the ground... and you can set them on fire and take them out. Saves you ammo and time.
And, if you manage to set one body on fire while other enemies are around... they'll catch and bun as well.

 

I see, makes sense.

As to folks wondering whether to avoid getting this due to black bars, frame cap (etc), if you love survival horror - the slow action, high tension and massively gory type - (I.E. - Resident Evil 1&2 but without the loading issues) then you owe it yourself to get this. The atmosphere is amazing and I think the graphics look pretty good, the lighting is certainly fantastic.

 

I'm loving the save thing, most of the time is different, lol.

Shoot the figurines. Just find out that there is keys...

Btw how long is the game? I am 3h into it and want to save some for tommorow.

Give me the damn FOV/Widescreenfix allready.. i wanna play it sooo bad..im at the beginning of chapter 3 and now reading about this FIX, i wanna whait..

still no news over in the flawless WidescreenFix Forums....

FOV and resolution can be fix with this CheatTable by K-Putt.
