This is the biggest issue i'm running into trying to get HBAO+, am still trying to find a solution

Welp, I can tell you that after 5+ hours of testing> HBAO+ is impossible in Final Fantasy XIII.

Either it only AO's characters, or it does both, or only shades per vertex, flickers, bleeds on certain elements and the worst part is character's hair, due to how the game renders it, it ends up like the picture I showed before.

Downsampling with HBAO+ actually ended up looking worse too, adding more artifacts during cutscenes with hair and skin.

I am very close to declaring the same for Far Cry as well

Notes: (All flags tested, most of them has a subtle effect or cover a small area) - 0x0000001F is stronger and has a longer effect range, but reduces gpu usage considerably  | 0x0000000F is nice but flickers depending on the camera angle and bleeds when flying aswell | sry for the lack of info on the screens, dont know why, but, my osd info is not showing up in this game D: . Unfortunately random flickering may occur with my suggestion, but that happens with every working flag.

Update: Found a way to fix the bleeding, some mods must be used, ill research a bit more but the results are amazing, i'll update the instructions as soon as possible > http://i.imgur.com/qkzAL7I.jpg

    >>Flight Bleeding Fix

EDIT: Couldn't find a way to ged rid of water bleedind, and since every flag presented this issue, my recommended flag stills the same.

Dead Space profile (0x0000000F) works quite well for FF XIII

As i have less than 5 posts i cannot embed or link images at all, you'll have to take my word on it.

    //
Some link filter overriding, if you wish to check out how it looks for me:
    //skacik.pl/images/FinalFantasy/XIII-HD/

add http: at the beginning and 1.png at the end.
range is from 1 to 5

There are only two "issues" with it. If you happen to rotate the camera around your character (for eg to look at its face) it may pop on/off, depending on camera angle. However the effect itself is so subtle and occurs so rarely i hardly find it an issue.

Second "problem" happens during initial whiteout at the beginning of battles.
AO bleeds entire scene through the white screen. A minor issue, but it also proves that DS AO profile indeed works. Either way it only takes a split second, so w/e.

I used the Dead Space profile. It's not good enough. Has issues with clouding and flickering on and off.

    Even at 720p native.

Flat out, nothing produces an acceptable solution. There are too many issues, and even the minor issues are too great (IE: Clouding and poor blending with the hair is present in just about every flag)

Play the opening cutscene with Sazh and Lightning.

    Looks fine to me really.

There's a slight chance that it behaves differently in each environment.
So far i've only tested it in Canopy Wardwalks and it really does behave as it should (save for aforementioned "issues").

I even have a youtube video recorded with HBAO+ on, but can't post it because i have <5 posts.

Please include your full ingame settings, as well as resolution/aspect ratio.
Otherwise we are comparing oranges to apples here ;)

I use GeDoSaTo, because it's pathetic to play in forced 720 resolution.
As far as its settings go:
Also i've enforced 16x AF (attached the .exe to FF XIV (1.0 not A Realm Reborn) profile in nvidia inspector).

You just need to remove the "http://" to post a link skacik, like "skacik.pl/images/FinalFantasy/XIII-HD/1.png"

We just have to copy&paste that in are browser.

I've just reached Sunleth Waterscape in XIII.
Seems quite fine too, but i've only spent 5 minutes in it so far.

FFS, I accidentally deleted FFXIII again, went to remove the custom grid icon, must have hit delete instead. So braindead sometimes>_>

But I will retest definitely tomorrow. I work a little less. So definitely will get to it then

Honestly, i've yet to witness any behavior that would disqualify the Dead Space bits for FF XIII.
So far it works quite well. My FPS tanked to 20 in certain areas of Sunleth Waterscape, but i guess it's caused by poor optimisation.

After 4-5 hours with DS HBAO+ i only experienced these so far:
-AO bleeding through initial white flash at the beginning of battles
-AO bleeding through battle end screen (only when menu fades in, after its fully faded it stops bleeding through).
-Random pop in/out on character faces when rotating the camera (seems fine in cutscenes, also didn't see it happen in sunleth waterscape)

I tried custom FarCry2 flag, but it appears not working or very soft?..

(I don't get any Bleeding during battle transitions)

Here are my grievances after testing again, which are about the same as when I initially tested.

-In cutscenes, with characters with Alpha tested hair, it doesn't look right, and it flickers very slightly a lot under the hair. Maybe it's just me. Like it is blended at the wrong stage.
-It only seems to work well at native resolution.
-It scales worse with resolution, I'll use post a picture below of 3200x1800 with HBAO+ the circled area now flickers extremely in this particular scene. Where as at native it doesn't. Also now the AO looks far too strong and causes visual dissonance to my eyes. (Again though, just when using higher resolution)
-It flickers on and off sometimes, which is not a huge issue

    No AO

Here's a video showing this flickering at high resolution
    https://mega.co.nz/#!nEp3mJib!mAW54ydjAJn7H5050K_LVIWEms9dE6gr3vtF_8kwSVU

And using it with downsampling is only possible when using the display resolution trick I mentioned prior. Using GeDo Downsampling there is no AO applied.

I think however, after giving it some thought. That perhaps these issues are too much for me. That people should decide on their own.
