HBAO+ Compatibility Flags Thread

    I'm working on Far Cry at the moment. I did find one flag free if major issues so far,
    but I forgot and realized.

    That any Aspect Ratio in Far Cry 1.40 that isn't 4:3 is Vert-.
    (The Mod FCAM has better widescreen support and proper 2D UI scaling, but it breaks light shafts, compared to 1.40 vanilla | EDIT: I have found the offending source, it is a texture. Such awful and questionable choices makes me feel like I have to go through the mod files 1 by 1 to compare with the vanilla to see what is actually objectively higher quality. The mod adds bloom to being underwater, but it's really bad quality. Has a lot of flicker and is temporally unstable)

    There are some fixes apparently, but I don't know whether they affect HBAO+ yet. Will have to do some more.

    EDIT: there's the "light" (=unofficial patch) version of FCAM too!

    And what about Thief 2014?

    Thief is DX11, so feel free to try finding one :p

    about the light patch'ish version. I found 1.43 which is just the scripts and stuff from FCAM, is there a newer version than that?

    I have HBAO+ flags for these two old games.

    Manhunt 2

    Issues: None found.

    Tony Hawk's Underground

    Issues: The effect gets applied around textures that float inches above other textures; making the game's development flaws more obvious (See skid marks on the right).

    Also works for THUG 2.

    Far cry is a nightmare to figure out.

    Either, something bleeds a ton on one specific element, or it flickers on and off on one specific element. Or it only works indoors or only outdoors.

    And it seems, all the original links are dead. And the unofficial patch version addon doesn't exist anymore.

    You can transplant parts of FCAM though. Which are essentially the same.

    Ugh, 2 days wasted on this ****.

    Seems to be lost cause, none of the official flags works (all but two kill the performance), none of the custom flags even increased GPU usage (tested over 40), and, as GuruKnight pointed out, ingame AO is pretty much useless.

    Awesome! I tried out the new flags added in the latest driver in Shadow of Mordor. None of them work, sadly :( The SSAO in the game is such a performance hog and isn't particularly impressive. It is good quality, but the performance hit is ridiculous. Anyway, I'll definitely be using that HBAO+ flag for Gauntlet!

    Oh, that stinks. I figured the game was Nvidia sponsored and would have HBAO+ or something.

    Shame! How big a performance issue are we talking?

    Early in the game, running SSAO on ultra vs off on my GTX 780 was the difference between 60% GPU usage and 95-99% GPU usage at 60 fps. In the 2nd area of the game, it isn't as drastic, but still. HBAO+ would look just as good or better for less.

    It doesn't bleed through UI or smoke, but does have a minor darkening effect under abnormal conditions that haven't cropped up in actual gameplay so far. This was also prevalent when SSAO was being forced a while back, so I don't think there is anything I can do about it.

    I can't seem to find a flag for Alien Isolation, but I did some testing on the game's AO.
    The game has partnership for AMD and includes HDAO and regular SSAO (called Standard ingame).

    SSAO seems to actually have a stronger and better looking effect, so it should be more desirable.

    All screenshots at max possible settings, taken at FOV of 75 (maximum allowed by the game, but it seems that's vertical FOV so it's good), film grain and chromatic aberration turned off since I don't find these effects desirable.

    Alien Isolation Tip: any fov beyond 55 will cause a player character body to disappear...or not rendered. Maybe it will be fixed in future updates tho.

    That's because the camera placement does not account for FOV, and the higher the FOV, the farther camera gets from the body.

    It still sucks playing w/o the char body but with higher fov...why would any?

    I'll take no body over getting motion sickness from console FOV. Besides you still see your hands, just not the legs.
    Anyone that played survival horrors like Penumbra or Amnesia years ago would never be bothered by something as silly as invisible legs.
