Good move but can they beat $330 deal on GTX970? of course 290x is faster than gtx970 in many ways but not by $70 difference margin, or is it?

From what I can see, especially with a slight OC, the 970 is faster than a 290x.

Personnally even if the 290x was at 300$ I think i would go for a 970 at 350$, overclocked it's not to far away from the 290x, and I want HDMI 2.0, DSR looks like a cool feature, low latency VR is cool aswell (if it works correctly) and if a commercial version of the oculus dosen't take too long to come out... Good thermals.
Hope AMD comes out with a good GPU and not like in 12 months (which is what I fear)...

I'm looking at 290 (non-x) for only 290€, nvidia dont have nothing at that price range. Besides that 970 are not 330$, it goes high as 380€ here in Europe.

There are a couple of 970's at 325 - 330 € in France, the Gigabyte G1 is 360€. And the cheapest 290 (non x) I can find in France is 330 €, I must be in the bad part of europe, although the prices are even higher in the UK

    I own myself a Sapphire tri-x OC r9 290 4gb, last week it was 415€ in Portugal(were i live)
Now its 387€. The cheapest gtx970 here is 368€. By the difference on HDMI 2.0+DSR+ -100watts/less heat The gtx970 is by far the best buy of this two.
Anyone even thinking about getting one of these new, then go for 970. If you can get 290 in 2nd hand, by something like 250€ then 290 is ofc the best buy as its only 8% inferior then 970 but at a cost of 100w+ .

Now ofc AMD will release 2 new gpus, a bit better then 970 and 980 for a few coin less as allways does. So if you wanna keep AMD just wait a little longer , it will for sure pay off as AMD allways have better deals in price/performance :nerd:

Id only buy one for Xfire, for a single card upgrade, id just go 970/980.

I saw this on Newegg yesterday and for my card Newegg lowered it by over $100 bucks. Maybe if I can get my card working a 2nd r9 290 might be in the books for me if my PSU can support 2 r9 290s and I think that it can since there is a fellow member who owns 2 r9 290Xs and is using a an 850W PSU.

I'm hoping to pick up a second R9 290 before the end of the year, already ordered a 1000watt PSU for it (yes I know that's overkill but it was a nice sale). I'm a little tempted to sell my current R9 290 and go Tri-SLI 970s, but I think my motherboard would choke out at 8x8x4... not a real need for 3 GPUs either. :nerd:

I think they make space heaters.

Joking a side this is all that AMD can do untill they can release the pirate islands.

Ugh, $399 is too much to swallow for a 290X now, $350 and I'd bite
