After a few days of testing out G-Sync I'm not all that impressed.

Compared to V-Sync mouse movement is more precise, but other than that games aren't any better at low FPS. Anything less than 60 FPS is still laggy.

FPS fluctuations are still noticeable as well.

I've tested Battlefield 3 & 4, Crysis 3 & Metro Last Light. The G-Sync experience was the same across all games.

ULMB in combination with V-Sync was alright when the FPS is pegged at 120, but I can't see an instance where I'd prefer it over G-Sync as it's too dim making everything dull.

Compared to an IPS image quality obviously a step down and I have some awful backlight bleed that is in the center of the screen :bang:

I saw one (well, loads) of these at a gaming expo a couple of weeks ago and to be honest, I was rather impressed.

After further testing I'm noticing a considerable difference with G-Sync, it's very smooth while V-Sync is jittery.

I think I'll just get a replacement instead of a refund after all.

Damn you guys and your positive impressions. Don't you know this forum is full of weak willed people on the fence?

I need more negative comments. I'm coming from Qnix 27"...

but you can downsample and have it or even 3200x1800 ;)

Although I wish'd it was IPS or something, this VA has one issue with darker shades if you look at it @ 0°, needs to have at least 5° tilt to the side. At least so they say, idk I have FS2333.

I'm not sure I get what you mean: Does downsampling to 1080p really look as good as downsampling or native 1440p? But interesting, haven't thought about such things as my current GPU isn't capable of it and my screen is a budget one anyway.

Yes in games I would say it looks great 1440p or 1800p downsampled @ 1080p screen, in normal scenario not so much - ie desktop.

Downsampling = Sharp Antiiasing, low detail.
    Native resolution = Actual detail.
Native resolution plus anti aliasing = Actual detail + smooth look.

Damn if only this monitor had the 5000:1 contrast ratio that my Eizo Foris FG2421 has, I'd get it. I was quite impressed with it when I saw it in action while using G-Sync. Its a great example of how you can take old TN technology and makes something really awesome out of it. Color accuracy out of the box and after calibration is better than on many IPS monitors, but of course you have to consider other aspects of TN technology, like gamma shift, that make color accuracy poor in comparison to IPS monitor no matter how accurate any specific point on the screen can be.

I want to buy this monitor just to play BF4 on it. I don't care much for graphics in high-pace games like BF4, so it would be perfect for it. For games where graphics does matter, I could never tolerate grays for blacks, even if I use bias lighting. Contrast ratio is of utmost important when it comes to image depth perception and being "sucked into" the game. I remember playing Metro Last Light (original) on VG248QE and I couldn't take it after a day or two. I had to switch to my SPVA TV to finish the game as there was practically no depth to the picture and that's after an accurate calibration with i1Display Pro, profiled by i1Pro. VG248QE contrast ratio is something like 400:1 with LightBoost enabled, while ASUS ROG's ratio is closer to 1000:1, which is better, but still crappy for games with a lot scenes that use blacks to create depth. I wouldn't trade Eizo Foris FG2421 for any monitor out there, except for maybe Sony FW900 CRT.

Can anyone absolutely confirm that this screen is 8bit??? If so, then there should absolutely NO dithering. VG248QE had this blue and purple tint in dark grays no matter how well you calibrated it with profiles or with monitor OSD controls. It was such a YUCK :puke2:. I hope its not the case with this monitor!

Well I don't need to run anything above 1080p on my desktop, since my gaming rig is doing NOTHING besides gaming anyway. As long as I see the icons ;)

That's what I was worried about... I don't want to go all blurry and low detail just to stick with 1080p. And certainly not when spending a couple of hundred quid on a new monitor!
