    Depends on ASIC imo.
One of mine stock boosts to 1290, the other one to 1316. First one got lower ASIC.

I was talking single card , all reviews I have seen got around that , same as mine .
I see a lot of reports with issues with SLI, so maybe next driver can fix some of them .

I would say no, as they start as 980 and check if anything is not up to snuff , those cores then get marked to 970 . I guess if yields are real good then maybe 970=980 but not sure on that .
Also for example the MSI 980 has better power delivery 10 phases verse 6 .

    Yeah, stock cooling.

Yup, mine boosts to 1354mhz without OC.

Guys... Does your cards whine in Valley 1.0 when you use basic preset and limit fps to 144. That should simulate 144 fps gaming situation pretty well. Mine makes pretty nasty noise...

So was I, tested them individually for coil whine and at the same time I noted boost clocks and ASIC.

Can try Valley when I'll be home this evening. I noted the loudest whine when running 3D Mark Fire Strike.

If you do, use the basic preset since other presets likely have difficulties reaching 144 fps. I'm pretty confident that I could rma my card. No one would listen to noise like what my card makes at that fps. 144 Hz monitors are getting more common too so... I don't think that this acceptable.

By the way, you could try sending your card directly to MSI.

I ran it on basic, the fps are in 150 range but I do hear faint whine if I put my head to side of case .
I have open vented side, 500R . I can not hear it seating down a foot away .

PS I didn't limit fps, I find the higher the fps the more chance to hear coil whine .
This card is about the same as my older 660ti but the 660ti never hit high fps so take that into consideration .
    I don't hear it in BF4

Don't worry about the RMA, it was taken care of by a nice staff member. Two new cards already ordered :) Will get them early next week.

Just tried Valley with default settings. There was some very slight whine at high fps (over 130). Only noticed it when the fps dropped that that slight high pitched noise disappeared. It was hardly noticeable though. Typical coil while happened when I clicked on quit benchmark, when it shot up to over 3000fps.

But honestly, running the bench, I don't think I would have noticed it if I wasn't looking for it. Can you post a vid of your whine?

So about MSI RMA, I will get my MSI 970 next week and im thinking if I should just return it straight back to shop and get money back and maybe get gfx card later when all problems are fixed/new cards comes etc.

Or how does that RMA work? I send card to MSI somewhere in world and have to wait few weeks to get new card and hope that doesnt whine 100db?

    Afterburner

Just noticed, in some games the gpu doesn't boost to 1450 any more. I'm pretty sure that it used to boost to 1450 in D3 and Grim Dawn for me, now it sits at 1114mhz, in D3 it sometimes boosts to 1450, but most of the time it sits around 12xx-13xx.

How come it's not boosting to the max for me anymore?

Try reinstalling drivers maybe.. are you using .11 or .16?
