It all depends: Do you have performance problems right now? If not, I'd wait and see what comes along until christmas, probably both the 8GBs and the big Maxwells.

Is that default voltage? If not, how much voltage did you add in AB? These overclocks seem kinda crazy! I've owned a lot of Kepler cards and they overclocked ok, but these Maxwells seem to be overclock happy. Maybe it's just me? Either way, excited to be in the 980 club this afternoon.

It's stock voltage, I've never tinkered with GPU voltages before.

That's what I was thinking. 300mhz overclock seems crazy for default volt. Wondering, at default, what a more realistic reachable overclock on average would be.

    Here's a FireStrike run:

Is there a simple guide on how to do this safely with the 9xx series? I had a look at the Nvidia overclocking sticky here but it doesn't cover over-volting in any detail.

Id say roughly low to mid 1400s on average

Really its as simple as maxing out the voltage slider in MSI AB and try to find the highest core clock.

Id start off with +40mvs first.

OK well I've tried over-volting it and it doesn't really make any difference. The max stock voltage is 1.212 but whether I up it by +40 or +87 in MSI AB, it never goes above 1.256 so that must be a hard-coded ceiling.

With the increased voltage, I tried 1596MHz but that resulted in artifacting, freezing and sometimes games just crashing before loading. 1576 was a bit more stable but still artifacting and screen flashes so I had to come back down to 1564, which is only about 20MHz above the clock I had before over-volting.

I've just been doing some testing and Far Cry 3 using DSR to render at 1440p with 2xAA on top looks great. Alan Wake @1440p with 8xAA also pretty.

39378 is the best I've done (and I'm not really trying tbh).

Hey guys, couldnt see an owners thread so thought I'd try here, on gpuz it says my 980 only has 32 rops!? And my pixel fillrate is only 45 gpixels! I've seen others around the 80 mark, its oc'd to 1500 base clock, and its the latest version of gpuz, any idea on what's going on? Cheers
