I need some support here! After hearing about the EVGA cards I'm most likely sending it back. So would you fine folks recommend a different 970 and why so I don't want to make the same mistake. Thanks.

I had mentioned this in another thread but get the G1

    - Second fastest stock OC of any 970 out currently.
    - one of, if not the coolest running 970
    - one of, if not the quiestest running 970, even at load
    - one of the top three highest overclocker at stock volts (capable of over 1500mhz core and 8000mhz on the ram with a possible bump in voltage needed)
    - backplate already installed
    - sexy sexy sexy

only con is that its pricier and longer than all the other cards, so need to spend more and have a larger size case to fit them.

Thank you so very much! This sounds really nice. One question! The one your speaking of is this one?

Wonder what's up with the EVGA cards this go around. They usually make great cards. My 770 has been awesome, as well as two cards before it.

But I went MSI this time. It's being packed as we speak. muahahaha... :p

For me, after finding out about the issues with it I figured why pay for something that has no quality. Every NVidia card I have ever owned was made by EVGA. So I jump on the opportunity to get one be for they were gone.

No they do not supply a sli bridge.
Don't you think they would included one of their own if they did?

I bought it separately. It do not look good, but do the work.
Going to order me one of the new glowing ones.

It would be nice to know if Gigabyte has done something to fix the coil whine issues that plagued their GTX 780 cards. Also how high in RPM their fans go while under load and is the fan speed stable (it was far from it and really annoying in GTX 780 that I had)?

I havent seen any reports of coil whine on the Gigabyte 970 G1 anywhere.
I suspect the fact its using a custom pcb and upgraded power delivery means it doesnt suffer ?

Only reports ive seen so far are reference pcb cards ( eg eVGA ACX) having the problem....and that was only one review.

I wonder how well those work in SLI cooling wise.

I can imagine they run up to 70C yet remain as quiet as a single last gen gpu. That SLI pic looks awesome!

Top card maxed out hits around 75c, bottom is around 68, but this is also considering that the only other working fans in my case at the time were the two on the h100 and they are exhausting. The card sare definitely louder during a benchmark, but idle pretty quiet. Overall, I'm very happy with them. My 2600k and older board is holding them back though :)

I would definitely be interested once I can adjust the fan profile as they idle at ~32 with 34% speed and could easily drop down and run near silent. Then again, its 2am so pretty quiet here. during the day I probably would barely hear my system, and I'm only 3 feet away from it.

I guess you should add some silent case fans then. Also, did you hear any coil whine?

My current, uh..., card hits 75c under full load (I've reapplied the thermal paste recently) but it's quite quiet since it has one fan and it maxes out around 1800 RPM. Lowest possible speed is 1350 RPM which is a bit high though. This thing doesn't use 2D clock when using 75 Hz... so idle temps are somewhat high at 47c.

Will post pics of MSI GTX 970 Gaming SLI this evening if anyone's interested including temps and some benchies. Will try a slight OC too.

Not really, there is some but its not bad. I may add some case fans, but I may instead turn on the larger 200mm fan at the front of my case to bring in cool air.
