Finally got it sorted. Wagnard, you were right the Event Logs showed an incorrect path/value for the AMD installer and through regedit I corrected all the bad values which I think were caused by my backing up to my external hdd. Installed everything perfectly with the help of your software.

I changed the installer file for a 7-zip sfx instead of a winrar one. There is a lot less false positive.

 

Interesting, so I guess more malware/trojan are using Winrar more than 7-zip.

 

I think its just more the way the SFX (exe) is made by winrar that is more suspicious to antiviruses.

I just ran a junk file remover I had laying around. It flagged a bunch of msi files in \windows\installer. They were marked as invalid msi files. In their properties under detail they all were Catalyst Control Center msi's. I assume they are all old and not used. How this was determined I could only guess that the name was checked in the Registry to see if it existed there. This is only a guess.

Do you think that getting rid of these is a good addition to DDU?

 

This is a bit tricky. DDU does clean the. Msi on the installer folder but only for the currently installed driver.
For the moment I cannot clean the old one from earlier driver as its a bit more complicated to identify the older one.

I decided to get rid of the Sept 2 drivers and go back to 14.7RC3. I ran DDU v13.3.0.0 in safe mode and when I got back into Windows I noticed that the Display adapters in Device Manager wasn't the basic MS one but was displayed as as AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series. The option to download drivers automatically was changed to let me decide.

Perhaps the modded Sept 2 drivers had something to do with this?

I used to just install new drivers on top of the old one as Terry Makedon (ATI Catalyst Maker) himself recommends, and never had any problem. However a couple of months ago I used DDU to clean up before installing the latest WHQL drivers and now I get blue screens every few days, caused by ATIKMDAG.SYS. Never had this problem before.

Should have known better, I had a Windows 7 system messed up by Driver Sweeper back in the day, unable to upgrade to SP1, a common problem. Really think these driver cleaners cause more problems than they solve. No offence to OP, I know there's a lot of work gone into this.

 

Post a. Dmp from your bsod.
If you install a known working driver for you, does it still bsod?

 

Hi, using 13.3.0.1 on Windows 7 Home here, have an odd issue.
Never had this issue previously when using Driver Fusion and I don't know why it's happening now.
Windows automatic driver installations are disabled.
Whenever I clean the remnants of the AMD and Intel drivers, some new ones are automatically installed on log-in(Device Ready to Use).
At first I assumed it was because I was using the version previous to one posted above(streetwolf apparently had the same issue), but nope still happening. I ended up just doing it again(cleaning that is) and then immediately ending the driver installation process via task manager...hopefully that actually helps and I am not just breaking my system >_>;

Any idea what I can do? also, is any more info required?

EDIT:
BTW, this would be on a HP DV6 with a Intel HD3000+AMD Radeon 6770M if that helps.
