My HTC m8 charges just fine in the microwave, one second for every percentage of charge.....

You can put some aluminium foil in the microwave, as long it covers only a third of the item and is relatively flat. Can't be crumpled! It insulates whether you are cooking, heading, or defrosting. By that I mean, if you are defrosting meat, you can put alfoil over the bits that may start to cook.
