    I took action.

Called my rep at NCIX after looking around.. they have the EVGA 970 w/ ACX cooler and have stock. Got my man to cancel my MSI pre-order, and nabbed me two of the EVGA cards. Also got him to price match to Newegg which saved me ~30$ AND hes shipping to me priority for this coming Monday to my office.

    SCORE.

I was absolutely positive I was going with a single gpu, so of course the 980, myself this round as I didn't want all the heat and power usage. Then I read about these cards' power consumption. Then I did the math and came to the same conclusion as you! About $150 difference for me...so 970 SLI....here I come baby!

Can't wait, these 570's have been great, but it's time for some more power...and more importantly, 2.7GB more vram! Thank freakin' jeebus.

Score! Those are the exact cards I ordered!

I was in too much of a hurry / excited mess to remember to check on a price match, lol. Oh well, live and don't learn. Enjoy your cards brotha!

Hmm... That's somewhat less than I thought. I'm somewhat surprised that it takes 1525 MHz to match 1200 MHz GTX 780. Maybe 3DMark 11 is exception and Firestrike is better or maybe NVIDIA doesn't bother with 3DMark11 any more.

This is what my current card gets:

If I get a card that fails to OC, I'm screwed.

How many volts is required to get that? Sounds like you have a good card there Rob!

Need to see some more benchies from people so we can get an idea of how much on average the consumer cards Overclock on air.

    oc cpu?

first play some games and check if it's crashing on stock clocks..then worry about firestrike! after all its for games not benches!!

(runs for cover if Cowie spots this).

Meh that game is all about CPU, i proly had more on my 660ti just 'cause.. you know 4k intel cpu. Dem ancient 2011 gfx and single core engine!
ALSO TWO WEEKS DAMIT, wish i could call to replace my card with something else, all i can do is switch to the ASUS one and get it 3 days earlier but also pay 50euros more. :bang:

And I was so certain on wednesday that by friday/saturday max i'd playing with my new toys, Metro redux session postponed..

well, you were right, firestrike is where it's at. again, the 970 peaked at 1525mhz. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4090282

that's 2k more for me in the graphics score. Have to add, I ran it with my drivers set to max quality, 16xAF too. Don't think that affects things too much though.

Phew! That's a lot more than my near 1300 MHz "suicide run" which was 12500 ish if I remember correctly. (EDIT: 12246)
