Yes, im shocked, Nvidia have played a blinder here, and its not even the top dog, i was expecting same pricing as usual £550+, but they've just dropped a massive bomb with that pricing, Maxwell is looking phenomenal, im pretty much speechless, i honestly think if AMD don't get anything out soon, they are history, they just can't compete here, sad, sad day, there is just no reason at all to buy AMD, they've already crashed their 290 prices, but they are still £380 for the X, £260 for non X, thats still way to much, X needs to be around £200 now, and non X around £150, and even then, id probably still go for the 970 at a tad more, as even thats matching beating em, well played Nvidia, well played *tips hat.

Im going to wait for the big daddy seen as its supposed to be pretty soon as well, as if these are anything to go buy, thats just going to be

    Enjoy it mate

AMD major strength for years was pricing, they know nvidia lowering pricing only in certain situations.

While i would only get 780 or 780ti those days over anything, i most say i expected 970 and 980 to be Very good, but it turned out to be a killer in all fronts. 2 980 in SLI need LESS power than one 290X, that itself is awesome and price... NVIDIA played perfect on all angels.

Very nice, 970 getting ordered when i get back from holiday, also tempted by the 980 but im not a big gamer anymore and still on 1080/60 so hard to justify the difference to myself.

Exactly, when I woke up this morning first thing I did was check the 970 prices. I thought if they price it around £350, they'll have a good card. I couldn't believe what I saw. This in the long run could be bad for gamers actually. The 970 beats the 290x, costs a fair bit less (picking mine up for £279), runs cooler and quieter. This could indeed kill AMD off which is bad news for gamers.

Seeing those prices, first word that came to my mind was "monopoly". This can't be good. In the long run. Worst thing is, I don't think AMD has anything to counter this. Only thing they can do is start selling the 290 for £239 and 290x for £279 or so, but they will take a massive hit doing this.

Yeah, i don't think anything from AMDs coming till sometime in 2015, thats too far away, needs a response now, these 9s are phenomenal, Nvidia have got them spot them, they are going to do maximum damage here for months and months to AMD if they don't respond quick, can't see how much further they can drop their prices, to not be selling at a loss, the 970s the one thats done it, £250s just staggering for that.

I really wanted to wait for the GM200 but tbh if these OC well especially under water and on a volt mod then i wont need GM200 for my resolution.
Cant wait to see GM200 though.:)
