Cool, I'm glad these are coming to PC will definitely give this a look. Can someone who liked the earlier games on PSX (7,8,9) tell me how this compares? I enjoyed those 3 and VI on the SNES, 10 was "ok" on the PS2 but everything after that has been vomit worthy. (12) Also is this turn based combat like FF should be?
13 is extremely linear, it is literally running down corridors until chapter 13, at which point you've been playing for like 30 hours. It's not turn based either, real time, auto heal after battles and little in the way of gear and equipment.
Meh, FFXIII is just an awful game, but I'm glad for Square is giving us some love. I hope someday we will see FFX and XII on steam, right now the only FF that I can consider a buying there is FFIV. I will wait for some sale though.
I doubt this will be anything other than a barebones port with mouse/keyboard functionality added at the sub-£10 price point. The game was nice enough on PS3 but far from being a classic. Also, pray that this is a port of the superior PS3 Blu-Ray version with its full 1080p FMV and not the crappy 360 version which suffered from having to be squeezed onto three DVDs with heavily compressed 720p FMV. If so then this will be a large download of around 20-30 GB.
they need to pad those sales of FF series all they can. FF13 was terrible imo it was so bad that i went back to finish FF8 and i hated the draw system in it. FF13 was nothing more then tech demo a really really nice tech demo. FF series went down the toilet after X as such i done with FF series till SQE goes back to its FF roots. FF to FFX where great everything after that marked then end of what FF is and was to me. Then again I prefer my RPG to be turn based and not Action/hack/slash
Aww that's too bad, thanks for the info I guess I'll have to give it a miss. Maybe one day they'll bring a new FF game out that's worthy of the name. Edit: At £10 I'll likely still buy it even though I can't see myself playing it at all. Hate that realtime crap in RPG's, ruined Xenoblade for me completely and "auto heal" haha oh dear... still I'll get it just to support the PC and hopefully when/if a decent FF is made we'll hopefully see it on PC too.
I've been saying this would happen for awhile now, and while I dislike the game I hope it sells well. I love JRPG's but they've a decided lack of presence on the PC, this is a step in the right direction. We're starting to see more and more come to the platform.
Played this on the PS3 some 3 years ago, loved it. Never finished the game, mind, but it was pretty fresh.
What?! Sorry, but it is impossible to not enjoy a deep and well played character like Tidus, the Great. But yeah, this is how much I despise FFXIII. Although I'd actually enjoyed FFX's combat system and some nice (Auron) characters. Story wise it is not a great game either (pretty predictable), but it was well executed and have a lovely soundtrack.
It wasn't great in my opinion, the mini-games were better than the game proper. It was still better than any FF released after it though.
Agreed, wasn't awful and I have great memories of it, but it was clear while playing it that FF was about to change direction for the worse... and obviously it has. Though, im told the online FF and FF12 were/are quite proper other than the change to real time battles in FF12. Truth be told id much rather have ff12/ff10 and back all on the PC rather than than having a few here and a few there of the series. Skip X-2 though, my my that was trash but still better than 13 and Lighting returns.
