much more excited about gtx 880, or asus strix 780 6gb tbh.

ddr4 is expensive currently and they'll be holding the good stuff back till full-blown mainstream ddr4 systems hit and not in only enthusiast setups.

Most interested in Asus X99 platforms.
@SLI: be careful with the strix, I think vrm cooling is sub-optimal on those cards (due to basic cooler layout I guess), as seen with the guru review: Guru Review 780 Strix

Going to stick with X79 until the platform starts becoming bottleneck for games (not until next 5 years may be).

I am more interested in GPUs right now. Looking to replace 2x7950 with a singe GPU with same amount of performance for half the watts and half the price. That would be 20 nm I guess.

With me since I just purchased a new rig which I am currently in the middle of putting it together there is no sense in me trying to afford x99 stuff.

Well I wouldn't consider 100°C at the vrm "excellent". Just meant to warn you, because in SLI the top card will surely rise above 100°C for that matter.
I'd be tempted to go with the Strix myself, but seeing those temperatures, I refrained ;)

I'm really looking forward to this. Im just sorting out money, and selling a few bits to help fund it. Will get the 8 core of it overclocks well enough, otherwise the better of the two 6 cores

I really can't wait for any benchmarks combining Haswell-E with X99 chipsets, I want to see if it would truely help to go with the enthusiast platform, or go back to performance with Z97 / 4790K

totally, i look forwards to my first i7 someday, would like at least 6 core.
i'm underwhelmed about current ddr4 ram though. (price /performance)

Does one actually have to use DDR4 with the X99 / Haswell-E, or could one go with DDR3, until prices drop?
