Is 780ti "too much" for 1080p ?

    Hello,
After my failed attemp with an Asus VG248QE (which I deemed as a bad quality display compared to my current S27B350) I am thinking seriously of a 780 TI. I finally reached a conclusion (to me at least) that a SOLID 60FPS with everything crancked up to the highest possible setting including MSAA,TXAA, McDonaldAA etc. is much better than sacrificing quality just to have fps jumping everywhere from 80-115.

It looks like I'll keep my 60Hz 1080p monitor. I hate SLI BTW. I always aim for a single powerful card.

Is 780ti too much for that resolution ? including the future games like GTA 5,BF HL, Witcher 3 etc. etc.

    Thanks

Nope. It's actually not enough in some games

Crysis 3, it takes more than 780ti to max it out.

Edit : Well, maybe its enough for 1080p.

there's quite a few games that will cripple a single 780ti, even at 1080p 60hz, especially when messing with inspector. BF4 with 200% resolution scaling and 4xmsaa will crawl into single digits, most likely. Crysis 3 (not really a game) will struggle. Assetto Corsa too, pScreenshot, Star Citizen etc. Just to name a few.

Not a single game ive ran across that i cant max out with mine at 1440P, but witcher 3 will likely require 2 cards to max out. 780ti will be more than fine for 1080P

There must be quite a few games you've missed then. All of the ones I listed, to start with.

1080P with 200% resolution scaling, then it's not 1080P anymore..GTX780 Ti is enough for 1080P gaming.

There's really no such thing as "too much" when referring to graphics processing power.

It depends on what you really need/want.

Crysis 3 won't struggle, BF4 at those settings is just unnecessary, Assetto Corsa is in early access, etc. Seems to me as if you're trying really hard to think of the few scenarios where a 780Ti at 1080p won't produce at least 60FPS. The majority of games get bowled unless you have a penchant for silly AA, in which case, you should be buying two or 3 cards.

Can only comment on crysis 3 and bf4, and i can say nope. All depends on your definition of crippled. Crysis 3 is 40+fps with 4xTXAA, and i know for a fact i never seen single digits maxed out on bf4.

well depends of the filters you use to play, depends on the games you play (ubisoft especially) ,but if we are gonna be serius the real question is how much of a graphics whore are you?...For future proofing get 2 of them or wait for the 880ti's .I think everything depends on the game engine and the developer everything else its just a c**K tease so you spend cash upgrading for 15% more performance each year

I'm with eclap, 780ti won't be enough for some games at those settings\res... still be damn good gaming though.

with resolution scaling at 200% and 4xmsaa at ultra settings? it won't be far from single digits. And like I said, there's more games out there that will not hit a solid 60fps on a single 780ti, with everything possible cranked up.

An OC'd AIB partner version of the 780Ti is probably about 50% faster than what the OP has, so it should be a huge step forwards in terms of minimum framerates. But is it a good idea to buy a despicably overpriced 780Ti when the 880 is supposedly unveiled NEXT MONTH?

Hi, recently went from 2 GTX680's to 2 GTX780ti's, the biggest issue I have is the vram on these cards, the 780ti is a very capable gpu, but 3GB ram should have been at least 4. Run a few mods on Skyrim, and vram is all gone, and the Titan is just far too over priced.

If its a good PC port , it will destroy it at 1080p maxed , it wont even work hard. But good ports come rare these days so you must have 2 times required power to make it right , cause someone obviously fcked it up. That's what annoys me so much lately , fixing someone else's BS by pouring more cash into your game PC ... it's just not fair.

yep, most ports are so badly coded it's beyond belief. PC gamers run all this expensive hardware, all this power, then you get a PS4 and see what it can do with a fraction of power and it blows your mind.
