I get BSOD while streaming video from youtube , or playing video with MPC player. Both has hardware acceleration enabled. BSOD doesnt happen very common , like once in two weeks. Bsod code refers to the AMD drivers.

is this a know problem? is there a solution?

    My system is :
    Sapphire Tri-X 290
    Asus Maximus VI hero
    intel 4770k

For me they stopped once I installed Catalyst 14.6 RC2 and 14.7 RC1. With 14.4 I had about 4 or 5 of them, like you say, once in a week or two.

But you are using CF ,right?
is this a known problem for single cards or CF? I'm using a single 290.

Not exactly. Disabling hw acceleration makes some pages really choppy.

Have you tried a different driver version?

some flash pages looks render lower resolution. Also different players, browsers use hw acceleration .it is not pratical to disable all of them.
For example , does IE even have an option to disable hw acceleration?

Next final release seems to be on the horizon. maybe it will solve the problem.

Yes, I am using CF, but like I said, I had BSODs when running h264 content in MPC-HC with the previous drivers but so far no BSOD with 14.7 RC1. They seem to have stopped in 14.6 RC2 (or RC1), since I installed them and then switched to 14.7 RC1 I watched h264 content in both MPC HC and Opera 23 without a crash.

Here is my old post in the 14.4 RC1 thread.

Uninstalling Adobe Flash would only solve the Youtube crashes in the h264 Flash based player and only for browsers that do not have Flash embedded. Both OP and me experienced crashes in MPC-HC, the BSODs were related to h264 content, not to Adobe Flash Player.

You guys should post your bsod .dmp files so we can check them. Maybe we can find something in it.

Actually i posted .dmp files on Microsoft tech forum. They didn't find anything besides that its probably a driver problem.

I haven't been able to solve the problem. Also there are no new drivers so far.

I uploaded the dmp files on dropbox. Can you check them?

It is a AMD custom bugcheck code, so I don't found anything beside it is AMD driver issues...

It can be graphic card hardware issues too, did you tried to RMA it?
Or like changing the clock, voltage etc.
    Code:
    Unknown bugcheck code (a0000001)
    Unknown bugcheck description
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000005
    Arg2: 0000000000000000
    Arg3: 0000000000000000
    Arg4: 0000000000000000

This is the second R290 card actually. First one had the same problem plus , black screen errors. I RMA'ed that one because of the black screen, and bought a new R290.

I play 3D games for hours , no problem. BSOD 's are only isolated streaming or playing local video files with hw acceleration on. There arent any other problems with the card. Also it is not frequent . Like once in 2 weeks.
I coulndt rma it if i even i wanted to , last time i had a BSOD was about 3 weeks ago.

It looks like a driver problem to me. If it was the hardware, probably i would get BSOD a lot more often. But i can't explain why not everyone having problems with the hw acceleration.

They did having issues with HW acc....
That is why they always choose to disable HW acc, and also recommend you to do this. :)

i disabled hw acc, also disabled from chrome settings, since html5 player can cause a bsod too.

But then video quality drops dramatically . This is only a temporary solution.

The only driver that works fine for me is the 14.7 RC1, every other driver has given me a BSOD with videos, flash webpages... more or less frequently. I've had a few crashes in some games with these though.
