The products are now entering the phase of extended support, which only entails free security updates, no new functionality is added.

7 works fine, security patches is all that is needed really, fair enough people will be p1ssed about new features like DX12 maybe, but all in all, if you want to run a gaming OS with new features, upgrade, if you want 7, it's still gonna run fine and be just as secure

Damn, people still use XP ffs

I laugh every time I see a statement like this. Windows 9 is a renamed version of Windows 8.X but people are easy to fool. People need to learn to adapt to newer ways of doing things. Hell my great grand parents dropped the Rolodex to a smartphone.

Well that sucks. Also server 2003 EOL is some time next year. I dont know how many businesses will upgrade their servers to 2012.

This has to do with Windows 7 installs without SP1 only. Besides, next year will mean the OS is 6 years old at that point. No big deal and besides, added new stuff would not do businesses any good. (You do not want to start adding stuff and breaking things that worked already on the existing OS installation.)

Edit: Basically, we need to get over ourselves, Microsoft is not a charity. :bang:

My guess is they would straight up replace the servers at that point. (An 11 year old server would need replacing anyways.)

Well yes very true. Even upgrading to Server 2008 would probably require replacing the server as well.

    Windows 8.1 is vista2? Right..

If you can't cope with "new" GUI that doesn't automatically make it Vista2, have some common sense people. Win7 actually looks more like Vista then anything else, Imo Win7 should be that Vista2.

Very well said. I doubt that Windows 8 had the driver issues that Vista had either. I wonder how many people complained about the switch from Windows 3.11 that didn't have the start menu to Windows 95 which introduced it?

And what exactly might you recommend we move up to and leave behind the computer? By the way, there are some indications that Windows 9 will not be a reimagined Windows 8.

I think people mean it in terms of Microsoft not seemingly paying much attention to feedback, and turning their back on conventional wisdom in relation to what people expect from an OS. Vista was a WIP and I think so it Windows 8.x, and it's not just about the GUI, it's about the experience.

What indications? It sure will not be a rerelease of Windows 7 from what I can see.
