Problem taking pics in bright sun is that wheels don't look like they are spinning with such a fast shutter speed. Should I get an ND filter or is that not a big deal?

Reverse kit lens

 

I tested my newly modded Handy cam, haha.. i used a lense from some googles i found and kit´ed it to the handy lense., kinda...

this is the lense, it actually worked. it helped me to get even closer and still be able to focus...gonna test some different lenses also. ..

^ Not perfect pictures Beta, but I LOVED the second Bee photo and the photo of the snail. Very nice indeed. The other photos are not tack sharp but are ok.

Better. With bugs, flies etc, you really want to get down to eye level, shoot from side like in that first shot in your last post.

 

its handhold reverse lens its too hard i dont have the reverse mount ring

hi can these lens fit unto any type of camera?

 

Frontal shots are tricky, when shooting close ups your DoF is extremely narrow and you'll struggle to capture enough of the object in focus.

 

^ You have to be QUICK when photographing bugs since they could keep still for seconds or erratically move about...

I find landscape a lot harder to shoot. sure, it doesn't move but it changes with light so quick. perfectly nailing the light in a landscape still eludes me. I find macro a lot easier to shoot

 

Yes, landscape can be tricky. Macro too can be difficult if you have no tripod or find it difficult holding the camera steady. Some of my personal macros taken with my previous D300 and others with a D90 DSLR with a 150mmf2.8 macro lens:

Which flash u using on fly picture?

With the 18-55 kit lens + magnify glass at f16 handheld is challenge to get one good picture...

 

I didn't use flash. Only when absolutely necessary I use flash otherwise I increase iso and decrease aperture...

As others have said, try to invest in a macro lens. You can get a good one for around $400. You will get excellent results providing you take the right photo!

f16 is quite high and unless taking landscape pictures it isn't necessary...

f8 or f11 is more than enough for a macro picture.

Ps. f5.6 to f8 is the sweet spot for most lenses and best possible quality/resolution.

Also, kit lenses will NEVER give you the same results as a professional f2.8 lens.

A pro gold ring lens/L series Canon is better for low light photos having a fixed aperture of 2.8 at any focal length.

9 aperture blades instead of 7 gives you a much better backround blur/bokeh.

Build quality and focus speed is better. Lens operation is almost silent. There is no whine/noise of motor when focussing.
