res is 1920x1080p AA on and K=core count of CPU .

From this test it sure does seem they lower CPU utilization as as you go down in core count % increase goes up, compared to 335 drivers .

PS: Google translation is not best there, its hard to understand , maybe there a better translator .

Yeah apparently LOD clamping never really worked on Fermi & newer.. Its mentioned in driver release notes as well.
This popped out around the same time when people demanded driver LOD control for SGSSAA & Dx11

But then nvidia tweaked some more and came up with setting called "Driver controlled LOD bias", it auto adjusts for better sharpens when using SGSSAA..

You can turn this off and then use LOD to clamp though. I didnt test it yet, im not seeing such shimmering for example by Grid2.

Except it only affects a few games, and there is "Driver Controlled LoD Bias" As long as that is set to OFF, LoD changes should only happen when a game specifically uses it's own LoD changes. Such as Final Fantasy XIV,which has copious amounts of negative LoD as it's always had since Version 1.0 way back.

Of course, this could be a bug with the specific application and the driver as well.

When nvidia broke clamp and replaced it with Driver Controlled LoD: ON/OFF, Clamp (Again mentioned above that this all happened when they implemented LoD changes for DX11 )has effectively for the most part served no purpose.

Even with SGSSAA, no LOD changes happen unless you want them to happen with DCLB: On or Off. With it off you can manually adjust the LoD bias positively or negatively or leave it at 0.

I've tested this numerous times myself to these exact results (With SGSSAA anyway)

There's mention of using modified drivers to allow for clamping the LOD in some 3xx drivers. Can this be made to work on 337.50?

No you can leave it as it is, that's only if you want fixed 0.0 clamp

How well does driver controlled lod bias work?

I thought Clamp enforces the game to stay at 0.0 LoD Bias.

I have tested the LOD Clamp with rFactor and it made no difference with Driver Controlled LoD Bias set to off.

Level 4 in game AA On + Negative LOD Bias Clamp On + Driver Controlled LOD Bias On:

Level 4 in game AA On + Negative LOD Bias Clamp On + Driver Controlled LOD Bias Off:

Level 4 in game AA On + Negative LOD Bias Clamp On + Driver Controlled LOD Bias On + Guzz's d3d9.dll:

    [IMG] [IMG]

Level 4 in game AA Off + 8xSGSSAA:

    Level 4 in game AA Off + 8xSGSSAA + Guzz's d3d9.dll:

The only way to make it like it was in the old drivers was to use Guzz's d3d9.dll that he posted.
