I got the same deal, due to town/city areas dropping to the low 20's for me (my CPU = not that great and wasn't fully used) i was kinda annoyed with it, now though i just went through the same areas and the FPS is solid - very please about this one as i really do like the game.

    What indeed?
I see gpu usage with MSI afterburner by those 3 really cpu bound games.. So yeah not a 0fps boost there.

And nope 4770K is still not fast enough by those, otherwise I wouldn't mention it ;)

Will see about other stuff later..

As it is now, everything looks fine to me now. Had that "close-to-the-player-only-vegetation" issue after I installed the driver, but after I restartet the game, everything looked fine. Should I be able to recreate the issue, I will post it here. But so far, no issues with Far Cry 3 anymore.

Offtopic question : do you, guys, think that Windows 8.1 X64 is better for gaming, than Windows7 Ultimate x64 ?
    Same hardware ( Intel I7 920 stock / GTX 660 / 8 GB DDR3, in my case )
    Thank you

I have uninstalled all Nvidia related software from the Windows control panel.

    I have also completely cleared all previous drivers from;

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

I did it the correct way, not just deleting the folders.

The problem is not that the driver fails to install but that it fails to start on the hardware device when Windows boots.

The events for the device state software failure (code 43).

Reinstalled previous driver (335.23 WHQL) without issue.

    Yes.
This is how I see windows 8:
An ugly car with a super engine.

Do you have Windows 8 x64 ? If so, what's the fps improvement, compared to Windows 7 x64 on same games, with same hardware ?
    Thanks

I would say windows 8.1 x64 is better than windows7 x64 in gaming but a whole lot better at almost everything else ,I loved windows7 and I hated windows8 when I first started using it but I gave it time now I would never go back to windows7

You will get a lot who say the opposite but there are a lot who agree with me you need to decide for your self

Ill maybe try later to compare, your lucky I set a dualboot win 7 yesterday.

When I say its faster, its general feeling. Seems more SSD friendly.
But il give real number later in case its just a placebo feeling...

In device manager does it list the driver there ok ?

Also maybe try one card only first (no SLI , disabled) to see if that might help .
sounds like a linking of drivers to hardware issue .

Barry J, i ask you the same question : what's the fps improvement, compared to Windows 7 x64 on same games, with same hardware ?
    Approximately, of course...

I highly recommend everyone to try Star Swarm(on steam). It should give boost to about everyone regardless of configuration.
