Bioshock Infinite stutters little bit with framelock on, without it, it's ok.

did the old drivers fix the gpu usage issue in thief? my 7990 is also sitting at 50% usage per core. pretty laughable considering it's an amd title

    1. Update your system information

    2. What settings are you running at?

    3. What is your CPU and GPU usage while in game?

    4. What else is running in the background?

    1. Is this with vsync on or off? If vsync is on, you are limited to your monitor's refresh rate, which of course is not going to push your cards to 100% usage.

    2. If vsync is off, what is your CPU usage in game? If it is at 100% on even one of the cores, then you are CPU limited.

Using mantle in thief disables crossfire completely !
    Anybody found a solution ?

    1. nah, it's disabled. average fps in the benchmark is under 60 anyways
    2. it's not -- seems to be a general issue for 7990 cards (and other crossfire setups maybe?) judging by the steam technical forum. i dont think i need a $700 cpu to push the card over 50% usage considering i'm getting considerably higher framerates in other titles

there is none, mantle crossfire support for thief is coming later apparently. see: http://steamcommunity.com/app/239160/discussions/1/558750985747146155/

Well I doubt his 4770K is hitting the limit anywhere with these FPS. Even if he uses Vsync he should get more than 50% usage when the FPS drops below
i.e. 60 FPS on a 60Hz monitor which as far as I can see by the Bench-results
of most people it does quite often.

    Cheers!

My 7970s in crossfire are BURNING and hanging on stress with these beta drivers. MPC-HC hanging video-driver too when playing MKVs. My primary card was topping 90°C on stress, crazy, and hanging all the machine. Had to revert to 13.12 official drivers to everything stabilize again... :(

    Anyone suffering the same fate??

I too noticed my VGA was hotter with these drivers, but it got corrected as soon as I enabled the fan curve on MSI Afterburner, and now (with browser HW acceleration off) it's even cooler than it was with previous drivers.

Just hoping my system doesn't hang anymore!!!!

Clocks still stick in 3D mode with these; make sure yours down clocks with gpu-z or AB. If they do stick, just flick amd od on and off

I stopped using Firefox to see if it's some incompatibility between it and the drivers... Damn, these freezes are a pain in the ass!

I've not been able to use any of the 14.x drivers so far. Fingers crossed for 14.4 whql goodness.

Thats great, this beta 420 MB AMD_Catalyst_142_Beta13-[Guru3D.com].exe fixes the stutter with vsync on I saw on world of warcraft (I stickked to 13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe in the past to fix this issue).
The previous beta had stuttering (would say unplayable for me), with beta 299 MB AMD_Catalyst_14.3_Beta_V1.0_Windows_B22_March12.exe.
Great ! Note: I use a 60 Hz screen on dispaly port, sound is not via display port but xonar pci express 1x sound card.
    I use a single 290 card in a pci express 2.0 16x slot.

Edit: Actually it is smoother than 14.3_Beta_V1.0 but still not as smooth as 13-12.
I reversed back to the old one.

Note: It runs around 120 frames per second without vsync.
GPU is only loaded at around 50% with vsync ON.

There is no stutter with vsync off but I don't like tearings.

edit 2: tested again with latest beta and this is fine.

Note: What I noticed from the gpuz log file, is that the memory frequency sometimes drops from 1300 MHz to 150 MHz, while the core changes from 638 to 674 MHz. Is there a possibility to fix the GPU core and memory frequency (I don't care about power lost) ? This is happening for both WHQL and BETA.

Interesting, I turned off vsync, and at around 100 frames per second, I don't see tearing that much.
Will leave vsync off I think.
