Editing the registry to change PowerTune levels doesn't change maximum TDP. You could increase it to 200% in Overdrive but the card still won't go higher than BIOS TDP limits..

to the best of my knowledge, 290/290x is designed for +50 in the bios wich is why its in CCC.

I never use Powertune in CCC, apply the afterburner voltage tweak then registry tweak to get Powertune +50 to show up in Trixx. I run Powertune at +32 and up the VDDC Voltage and my tri-fire 7970's run "ALOT" better than running +20.
I see people say it does nothing but why would my temps go up moving just the Powertune slider in Trixx from +20 to +32. These 14.2 beta drivers run the best I have seen in BF4.
I am glad I did not jump on the 290's yet, almost did.

Same here. I guess we'll have to wait until a future driver release and cross our fingers :wanker:

How does that have anything to do with the 7900?

now that i go back and reread, i was initially under the impression he was implying the registry softable mod fixed the broken powertune in 14.1/14.2

Clearly he was implying it increases the limits.

    It cant, obviously.

I used that vbios editor to mod TDP on my card and ended up flashing it back to stock. With the limit raised my power draw increased by about 150W and the vrm mosfets were heating up to 100c.

there was clearly a reason they set at 20%

With the new powertune on the 290s that throttle based on heat, its less of an issue so they could raise it.

11.03.2014 —I've found that Battlefield 4 still manage to crash, and leak a lot of memory with the latest beta driver, however knowing EA & EA DICE, I'm sure it's a client issue.

wow...I have never seen this kind of threads soooo dead...nothing yet...:wanker:...and the thing that really scares me is the fact that the most probable is that next drivers wont work completely fine in mantle with bf4 and will have to wait even more...:wanker:

They better fix the powertune as setting +50% does not work. And have to use 13.12

    BSOD's in Firefox.

Is anyone running Firefox that has the option to enable OMTC? Nightly has it and maybe Aurora. The pref is:

    layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = true

I had a few BSODs with OMTC enabled using the 14.2 Beta 1.3 CATS while using Fx30 (Nightly). The module on the blue screen is an ATI module though I can't remember the exact one. I didn't have BSOD's with the prior beta CATS. I'm now on 13.12 to see what happens.

I'm running one AMD HD7970 3 GB Sapphire on Windows 8.1 x64 Pro.

Same here, and based on a previously posted Twitter reply, this should be included in next week's driver finally.

It's been running very well on Mantle since 14.1 for me already so I'm excited to see how much better it can get. :)
