I recently got a new motherboard, CPU and ram, reformatted, installed the Nvidia drivers (using the same video card I've used before I updated my PC just now), downloaded Nvidiainspector, etc. But there's a new problem that's happening that didn't happen before: When I limit my framerate to 58 with the framerate limiter it turns off vsync now, meanwhile vsync is on if I have my framerate limiter off. Is it possible that I need to get an older version of Nvidiainspector? I couldn't find any, the only things I can find is the latest beta and latest stable release.

Any help would be appreciated. I figured I'd ask here since this is where I download Nvidiainspector from.

Nope, you will need to reverse back to old driver, it is the driver issues, after they getting G-sync support.

And yes, you can using game FPS limit or MSI AB FPS limit to workaround it.

NVidia has confirmed that this is by design. They disable vsync on purpose in new driver versions. This is the thread where ManuelG from NVidia confirmed this:

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/...ay-driver-feedback-thread-released-1-7-14-/8/

So I doubt it will ever work again. It seems we're stuck with third-party frame limiters. Which sucks, since they're not part of the profiles for games, and so can't be set for each game individually with inspector.

I don't think that means it will be 'fixed'.
I'm getting the impression that it means they fixed a 'bug' where vsync could not meet the monitors refresh rate with the frame limiter on.

Who else besides NVidia thinks -that- is a bug is beyond me. I used it all the time, in certain games it would allow you to trade for less input time and more juddering.

Yup, at least we know it might back to before, limiting the FPS by using the function from driver will not disable v-sync.

Better not starting fight for MSI AB and RTSS, I just said MSI AB because most people don't know what is RTSS, but they know it is a program that will be install while install MSI AB.

Yes, but you can set fps limiter per game with MSI AB 3.0/RTSS 6.0 .

Oh, well Nvidia's built in FPS limiter was kind of ****ty anyway. Afterburner's works just fine

LOL indeed. I don't see Afterburner on that screenshot. Do you?

But RTSS is NOT connected to MB in any way (with the exception of who is programing it). RTSS is completely independent app that works outside MSI AB and can be installed, downloaded and running without MSI AB ever touching user's hard drive. Not to mention that past several months version included in AB's installer was older than version available for download.

    SOLVED! (for R334)

why the hell is nvidia communicating a simple "by design" only? why not saying blabla API has changed, change this, solved. :bang:

API update has just arrived today and explains everything!

they added a new switch to allow vsync with framelimiter.

just replace CustomSettings XML file and its working again. :)

I just tried this new file with 331.87 driver and it disabled vsync, did I miss something?

It kind of worked. It worked when I set the fps limiter to 40fps (just for the sake of testing), but it didn't when I set it to throttle at certain temperature (ie 85"C).

Tested 1. with the VSync set to 'Force ON'
and 2. with the default setting but forced VSync + TrippleBuffering via D3DOverrider.

I used the latest 334.xx WHQL and the game tested was MafiaII.

I would recommend to wait a little as NVIDIA have claimed they've fixed the problem for the upcoming driver.

    just like before

looks right, should work this way
but i just tested R334t driver, maybe the switch is not available in R331

yep i didnt modified the thermal limiter values, so it can not work, i didnt guessed someone use it. :) if you really need it just add this new switch to the thermal values as well.

just in adition, the limiter itself has still this random freeze problems when using caps greater than 60fps.

When I`ve tried to download instead of 'CustomSettingNames_en-EN_fixed.zip' was offered 'CustomSettingNames_en-EN_fixed.zip.exe' and antivirus was very excited to that file.

...Not connected in any way? How exactly do you set what to show in OSD?
