Since My desk broke tonight and my monitor fell off and had its panel smashed to bits... I need a new one. I had the Benq GL2750 witch was great but had a little bit of ghosting. Id like to get another 27 inch but a half decent one. Any recommendations?
Budget? Resolution? Panel type preference? Refresh rate (e.g. 120Hz) preference? LightBoost, G-Sync, etc...? A tip.
Wait for this http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/asus_rog_swift_pg278q_g_sync_gaming_monitor.html if you want to waste your hard earned cash, this is my next upgrade I have tried the cheap Korean QNIX QX2710 2560x1440 had it at 120hz... it was nice but i hated the build quality.
I prefer smooth game play over pretty colours, dont get me wrong i liked the Qnix at 1440p games looked great at that res and nice colours but i always went back to my 144hz TN... Are you sure that Asus is a TN? Was hoping it was PLS panel
at 144hz out the box it will be TN. I on the other hand would take a 120hz PLS/IPS panel over a 144hz TN panel. Especially at a $300 vs $800. But to each their own.
Budget is £200. no more really. Its for gaming. I dont need anything fancy. 5ms response is ok, 1080 is ok and vga/dvi input is ok, as well at 60hz refresh.
That's a TN panel, at 2560x1440, at 27", at a very very outrageous price. Not a good idea IMO. I doubt 144Hz is THAT much smoother than 120Hz. It might just be the extra motion blur on the PLS monitor. The color quality and panel uniformity difference seal the deal for me with regards to (against) TN. G-Sync might also be dead before we know it, if monitor manufacturers do what allows support on both Nvidia (might need hardware update) and AMD cards (already supports variable VBLANK in hardware).
My Qnix cost me erm... £215 or so? sure, you can go cheaper with a 1080p monitor, but you're not getting value for money. £215 for a 1440p, 120hz, PLS, 27" monitor. You'd be a fool not to buy one.
edclap.. do me a fav.. actually link me to the monitor your talking about or at least give me a model number! Im not telepathic..
You could just use Google, but never mind, here it is, one of guru3d hot items right now... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/261204411997
Exactly. PLS 1440p 120hz is an upgrade, + at that price point you can't beat it.. I mean it's stupid to waste 800$ on a monitor. And yeah, it's the value that we're talking about here that can't be beaten.
Thoughts on this monitor? Its an IPS http://www.ebuyer.com/411048-lg-e27ea33v-27-ips-led-lcd-hdmi-monitor-e27ea33v
I can spend more but I don't want to. Having to buy a new monitor now is unexpected. The money I am spending to get a new one was going to be used for other things. Id like to spend as little as I can on a new 27" monitor and that LG seems like a good deal
tbh, you can have a korean for £30 more. it's far better value for money than that LG. Spending money wisely hardly ever means buying the cheapest option available. You're getting hundreds of pounds more of a monitor for £30 if you go korean. It's a no brainer.
