Gtx 770 and r9 280x weren't released as top cards of their generation, it's common to see top previous gen cards costing more than refreshes. Also, 7970 didn't launch at near $500, it launched at $549. So you're now complaining that some decent gpus are good value, hmmm, not sure if serious.

Eclap, I am not complaiing about good value. Why did it take this long for NV and AMD to bring their prices down to a reasonable level?

And I am wondering how inflation works in the reverse in this case? R&D costs may go down due to rebranding, but production costs shouldn't. I guess TSMC has more 28nm chips sitting around than we know.

7970 was selling for sub £300 when the 280x got released, 7950 for around £200. 280x was released at slightly less than the 7970, I don't see a reason to be unhappy about that.

when the 280x was released, your right. 7970 was brought down for the same reason. Eclap, when did you buy your 7950's? Fall of 2013 or earlier? I got my value in the 760 I have, do you feel the same about your 7950's?

  7. It be interesting to see how much more cash the fanboys have to fork out for 3GB of vram.

Funny thing here is that the r9 280x now sits at around $420 US rather than it's original $330 it came out as due to chip shortages? I think it's time AMD and NV each found a different chip maker other than TSMC.

do you want to know what my worst fear is out of NV and AMD is, was Xmas and fall the reason for the season to make everyone happy are are they both going to go back to their price gouging ways in the next gen of cards.

better than pictures, amd - all images, mantle all images, new uber driver all images.
vanilla 290 /290x is a big freaking joke.
welcome to NVidia section amd boy.

if you haven't got the picture yet, SLI-756, the joke has been at the expense of both NV,AMD or AMD,NV fanboys. And NV,AMD or AMD,NV have been the profiteers of the joke. Worse even, is the fact that TSMC has been the worst offender of all, acting in the conflict of interest of both gpu makers.

I bought the first one (Vapor-X) in April, for £265 or so. The 2nd one in November for £135. Yes, I think I got awesome value with both. I could easily sell both for £250+ each right now.

The prices are up because of coin mining. Nothing to do with AMD, it's the retailers. 7950 were selling for £350 on eBay a few weeks back.

Eclap, you were one of the fortunate who didn't buy back when. I'll give you hint. Back feb. 2013, I paid $575 cdn for a zotac gtx 680 amp. Before I recently swapped back my asus gtx 760's from a friend, I paid $372 for a gtx 770 amp in nov. 2013 that he now has as a single card solution. Like I said, I got my money's worth back in two video cards vs. the little I spent on one right now. Yes, I could have spent more to have two gtx 770's. My expense that I didn't want to do is the psu. I am currently using a 750 watt psu. When I found out that two gtx 760's would work in sli with a 750 watt power supply, why not max out the potential of what''s already there in a psu. Two 760's outdo a single gtx 780. Also, for 1080p gaming, 2gb cards are fine. In other words, how many of you would wait as month at a time/part at a time to get the solution you needed/wanted. It becomes somewhat frustrating doing so.

Eclap, what was the trend before bitcoin mining that AMD gpu's also excelled at? My memory sucks right now. The problem I have with bitcoin mining is the arses that are using malware to not just use their horsepower but on unsuspecting others in their pc's horsepower to get richer. if you can't get rich on your own, how do you expect to live? Kinda like reverse engineering Folding@home.

You can run 770 SLI on a 750w psu, no problem.
