And computer parts manufactures wonder why pc sales are declining! Hey ne1 home upstairs ? Hello ? lol make products to give us a reason to upgrade our computer systems and people will buy it. This monitor would make good target practice with my 10mm glock.

Does it max at 30hz simply because current hdmi is limited?

Sorry, have only just started reading on Nvidia's website about this and how they are planning hdmi 2.0 on future cards so not sure.

    1) Why buy a 28 inch for $699 when you can get a 39 inch for $599... When both can only do 30Hz at 4k?

    2) Glad I read stuff on this site. I didn't know Nvidia card cannot do HDMI 2.0 yet. I started to research on a 4k Sony with HDMI 2... I didn't even think of researching if my Titan can do HDMI 2.0. Guess I will stick with the Asus.

Again... are we sure that is right?

Even the best TV's on the market ($5K etc) could only do 30hz at 4K, until a few of them added the hdmi 2.0 update.

Even then, they are limited to the device playing the content needing to be hdmi 2.0 also I believe.

Oh those days when 1024x768 was standard... And the days to come when you'll want a 22" but there aren't any because stores want you to buy, almost by force, something bigger...

In a way this is perfect for most people at the moment. No one has the GPU muscle for 4K yet so you turn the res down to 1080 when gaming then you have the advantage of 4K for everything else.

Actually 4K gaming is very much in the reach of high end GPUs in SLI or Crossfire. This is a pointless investment for any PC gamer.

Some TVs can do 60hz at 4k over a displayport. Making hdmi 2.0 not needed. for current graphics cards. but your limited in choice atm :(

    Exactly!

For anyone to willingly pay up to 1k for a monitor it would have to attract the vocal community first..

    My wish list,

4k none NT panel @ 24"-27" that can perfectly scale down to 1080p.
120Hz or higher in 1080p mode.
    With free-sync or g-sync capabilities.

This is what I believe will attract a lot of gamers/enthusiasts, until then not many will be interested.

Eh, my monitor cost 700 USD when it was new. People will buy these for workstations first. Big resolution is great for programming for example.

LoL 30hz at 4k, lolololol for all that money....what a waste of cash. When 4k hit 120hz ill be interesed, we also need the gpu's with the onboard ram and fast core clocks. Looks like ill be waiting a while...4K...meh.

At 30Hz this monitor is good only for watching 4K movies at 30FPS. No games, no work, cursor @ 30Hz no thanks.
