Got a beta key in my inbox earlier, will give it a go, 20GB download is huge tho especially for a beta, will be testing it on my Rift as well so will see how that goes.

Well I mean, when they give out random invites to people, most don't really care about NDA.

Please describe the game is full detail so I can get a full idea how terrible this game.

Well I'm a sucker for rules. So I'll wait until NDA is lifeted before I rip Bethesda and ZeniMax a new one.

 

Bethesda lawyers are going to backtrace your ips! They'll get the internet police onto you for telling everyone how terrible their game is and potentially losing them money from punters.

Haven't played the Beta but seeing as it's a "AAA" mmo by a big company I'm gonna guess it follows the WoW formula with a few quirks.

The mmo's I'm most interested in currently are Star Citizen and The Repopulation. If I want to play fantasy or quest hub mmo's I have a LoTRO lifetime sub and Guild Wars 2.

Well it's been standard fare for big budget mmo's for a good while now. They apply the WoW formula and then add in these little ideas of their own. For example TOR follows the WoW formula but they added the story focus with cutscenes, the dialogue options, companion character, etc. However the games skeleton is largely World of Warcraft.

So with TESO I'm expecting a WoW skeleton with additions like all classes being able to wear any armour they want, more action orientaed combat, etc. However a big part of the game will likely involve quest grinding, dungeon running for colour tiered gear, and end game raids to get better colour tiered gear to do more raids for even higher tiered gear.

Ah lol well I agree with you, every time a big company starts listing their mmo's features I just sigh now.

Saying that though Sony's new Everquest is interesting.

 

TESO is nothing like WoW and that's where they got it wrong. They want the game to be different, not good. The fact this is also coming out on consoles just says it all. Just been thinking, maybe they should just not release this, it could do more harm than good to the series.

Well that's fine, the less like WoW it is, the better. They won't get anywhere making a WoW clone.

The MMO market is mostly made up of games like WoW, doesn't need another one.

 

Problem is this. When a new mmo launches, millions WoW players check it out, if they don't like it, they go back to WoW. TESO will be the same only this time all the WoW players will most definitely go back to WoW. If a mmo wants to be successful it has to be a WoW clone, like it or not. 1m players will not make a mmo successful. Another thing is they will have to launch it full of content and bug free. If they don't, game over. Serious players will minmax leveling and hit end game in a matter of days. TESO will have to be ready. Content will have to be there and will have to be hard to beat.
