If only it was 27'' or larger. Apart from that it's a lovely looking monitor.

I know I wouldn't, playing a perfectly scaled down 4:1 @1080p is much better visually because of ppi density. With 27inch you cant do a native scale down. Im sure there will be monitors with 27-30 panels available but this Dell is absolutely awesome and ideal.

I looked hard, where is the refresh rate? 30hz? Not for gaming. We need a real deal 120hz 1440p monitor, until that happens won't the best gaming experience will be on overclocked Korean 1440p panels or 144hz 1080p panels? Imagine, you bought a crossfire 290x rig and you get 60fps at 4k resolution. What 4k panel is going to properly display that?

IGZO panels are 60Hz as are the underlying mechanics, but you are right that the data sheet does not list it.

Trust me, in Dark Games IPS Glow is extremely distracting.

But i wont have any of that anymore next year as i ordered a EIZO CX240 for 899 Euros.

all sony 4K tvs. after firmware update to hdmi 2.0 they will allow 4k@60Hz.
    i rather spend 3500 on a 55in tv than a 30 monitor.

having 3 times the color garmut makes a nice picture...
the bravia engine on the Z tablet is actually outperforming ips panels, with the triluminos panel even more; no ips glow...

people here mad? noooo..... 4k is pointless imo eyes still no gpu as able to sustain that res and keep good framerates in games with out cost an arm and leg or 2.

That and I still of the opinion all this nice color reproduction and PQ of gods, means jacks **** if they all suffer from the inability to keep up with motion with out getting smeared and or lost of detail and all LCD/LED tech suffers from it and IPS are one the worse imo.

If and when the fix this issue to be as good as crt I might pay those huge prices for monitor. till then Only reason I will pay those kind prices are for gsync monitor just so i dont have to deal with Vsync performance hit anymore

But then agian people are all about the bleed edge of tech even if it not ready

For those of you who might be interested, Dell is going to be releasing the P2815Q which is a 28" 4k Display soon for under $1000usd. Yes... you did read that correctly... a 28" display that does 3840x2160 resolution, for less than a grand.

It's 60hz @ 3840x2160 using displayport 1.2 but if you use HDMI, it's only 30hz. I was always under the impression that HDMI couldn't do 4k even at 30hz...

Want to solve your IPS glow problem? Stop sitting a foot from your display and it magically goes away. IPS glow is caused by close proximity to the screen and the acute angle between your eyes and the edge, allowing you to see light from between the screen and the bezel.

I have both a U2410 and 2407wfp Ultrasharp (not to be confused with lower end ultrasharps like the U2412m) and neither exhibit this IPS glow except when I'm VERY close to the screen and look toward the corners. So I highly doubt this $1200 4k Ultrasharp will be any different.

And if you're confusing this with actual backlight glow, neither of my ultrasharps have that issue either.

Here is a review of the updated version of my U2410 where they show both IPS glow and backlight leakage (or almost complete lack there of..)
    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2413.htm

Actually the new dell ultrasharp screens have very little motion blur, no ghosting, and they beat out pretty much all the other IPS screens out there. And when compared to 120hz 1-2ms TN screens designed specifically for gaming, they too still exhibit motion blur, primarily dark overshoot. But even though they are faster displays, the color reproduction and accuracy sucks on those 120hz screens. I'd much rather have a low amount of motion blur that the human eye has a hard time noticing, than almost none with crappy color.

The blur tests in the above link are under a worst case scenario and don't factor in how modern games with their heavy use of shaders and shadows due to advanced ambient occulsion in both the environment and characters, such transitions which make motion blur visible are not as common as they were even a few years ago.

So what CRT do you use on your computer? Last I heard, they stopped making those years ago. And even if you have one that's survived this long, i doubt its good for anything other than gaming.

I own the 2413 and can attest to its awesomeness.

I'd still prefer a 120 TN for FPS gaming, but that's a lot of money to spend on something I would only use for FPS gaming - it would be like having a special mouse for playing FPS and using a regular mouse for all other things.
