Really? Just looks like your standard gloss black monitor to me with some tacky stickers added. (I know the insiders are different).
if theses monitors are only 24" and 1080p , that is a big downer. hopefully they come out with 1600p\1440p 27-30" versions or even better 4K g-sync monitors.
After seeing it in person, Linus from Linus Tech Tips called G-Sync a game-changer. I'm very interested to hear your opinion, Hilbert.
Just did some first test runs, and I agree. It is weird to not see tearing or vsync pulsing. Very smooth, likable and easy on the eyes even at say 35 FPS. Below 30 FPS things get a little weird, but then again that's the same withouth GSYNC. But I'll refrain from judgement until I have spend enough time with it and tested everything more in-depth. But for now, yeah I'm impressed.
I just can't see Nvidia pushing a monitor that makes games run silky smooth at low fps. Who Will buy their gpus if all we need is 35fps+?
Well two reasons, you can flick on way more eye-candy and accept a lower FPS whilst getting a very smooth experience. PC gaming is all about more graphics quality for me. Or how about this one: Right now a GTX 780 Ti is considered to be average at Ultra HD with 35 FPS. Such a card with a GSYNC module would make a perfect combo. Then again, you don't wanna fall under 30~35 FPS too much though. I also noticed that if you do really high framerates things get ridiculously nice rendering wise (running 144Hz at the moment). So yeah, faster cards are still better.
I can't wait to see how much the G-Sync upgrade module will cost for those of us who invested in the non-G Sync Asus VG248QE.
i'd be interested in a g-sync versus the korean overclockables... tbh i cant see a 24inch with a lower res being superior to a 27inch higher screen that can do 120hz. (cost as well). early days though. the screen tech seems to be changing quite a bit in the last yr or so..
Fair play Hilbert. Still, there's no ultra hd Gsync monitors, yet. I would be interested, but they will have to be at least 27" and IPS/PLS. I'm not going back to TN. You couldn't do a quick video with this monitor running 144hz and stock it on YouTube, could you?
Well if it gsync eliminates screen taring all together, then it is the better monitor. I have one of those Overlord 27 inch monitors that's I'm testing for a friend and even though it's damn good looking, It still has screen taring.
