still relevant? Trying to get rid of a little stutter in Skyrim on my ASUS G750, does d3doverrider even work on 8.1? does triple buffering actually do anything? I remember forcing it in games years ago.. was I crazy or is this something I should try?

D3D override doesn't work in windows 8 or windows 8.1, the only thing you can do is use Adaptive Vsync, which if your fps falls below your monitor refresh it auto turn off vsync but if it goes above it then it enables it. I doubt there will be a brand new D3D overrider soon unless some one get a hold of the code and make it so it works in windows 8/8.1.

Try RadeonPro. Even after switching from AMD to nVidia its DirectX tweaks still work. I use it to force TB+VSync in W7 64. Maybe its FPS limiter will work for you.

Problem is Win8, not win7. With win7, D3DO is fine. As for the frame limiter, the nvidia inspector works fine, on game profile basis. I use it regularly.

I don't have W8 but AFAIK RadeonPro works in W8. I think Bloowhalez should try it.

It has worked for me with Windows 8 and 8.1

For Windows 8 I used it for Batman: AC and 8.1 I'm currently using it on Assassin's Creed IV.

okay, radeonpro has triple buffering for d3d9.

d3doverrider, may you rest in peace. we've been together since the counterstrike beta if i remember right.

Im trying to see if Triple Buffering works for me without D3DO.

When I run MSIAB or Fraps my FPS can go down below 60 without jumping to 30 which double buffering would cause - would this mean that Triple Buffering is active?

    Win8.1 x64, D3D11 games like Wildstar, BF4 and AC4.

If you see some tearing during FPS < YourRefreshRate then you don't have TB ON.
If you see NO tearing during FPS < YourRefreshRate then you have TB ON.

I'm again recommending RadeonPro. This tool is great for nVidia as well. You can check TB status in it (PgDown) or dynamically activate SMAA/FXAA/SweatFX/FPS_Limiter and many other things.

So, you're saying RadeonPro works with Nvidia cards as well, at least when it comes to using Triple-Buffering? Is that only limited to desktop cards or does it work on mobile GPU's as well?

I'm running Windows 8.1 with a GT 650M from Nvidia and would love some triple-buffering.

When I originally tried it didn't work in windows 8 so I assume it didn't work in windows 8.1 either. Because I in up using Lucid MVP because of it not working for me at the time in windows 8.

Yup, if you using Lucid MVP or Optimus, you can only force triple buffering on the output card.(for Optimus it is Intel HD4000 only, I tried it.)

Triple buffer has nothing to do with tearing tearing is what happens when vsync is off

TB keeps your framerate from be halved when vsync is on

You are right. I suppose he already has V-Sync ON.

    EDIT: V-Sync or Adaptive V-Sync.
