Better. Usually for B/W, I use a black and white gradient map above the layer. Then I go into levels or curves and tweak the original from there.
If you are using curves, drag the center down a bit until it looks right to you. Levels are a little tricky depending on the picture.

Thanks for the tips. I used curves in Lightroom to adjust it this time.

Thought I'd post a few more shots from my trip up to Snowdonia a couple of weeks ago. This time from around Cwm Idwal, and looking down to wards Llyn Bochlwyd.

    Hope you like them!

so much better in colour Mike! good work. Although I'm not sure if you used a polarizer, but if you did, I would use it slightly differently.

went up to Hervey Bay for a few days for the first time, weather was crappy during sunrise/set hours everyday so ended up shooting a lot of birds, definitely not something i usually shoot :p

on side note was really cool sighting the ospreys though, first time ever seen one in person let alone getting so close to one in the wild was pretty awesome feeling

I'd like to think that the big one is the mommy, and its giving the little one a spider hug. But I guess thats not how nature works :p

funny how u say that, i actually had a friend that genuinely thought that's what was happening lol...

but i did feel bad tho, it was distracted by me instead of looking out for its predator...was a friendly little fella too, was climbing on my finger and stuff

on another note one of my dragonfly pic got featured in explore on flickr, pretty happy about that

amazing scenery Rudlin, shame about the poor B/W conversion. Brecon is lovely though, I'll give you that.
