Can AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz work on my motherboard?
    Which is > Link : http://rs.msi.com/product/mb/K9A2GM-V2.html)
It's a stupid question, because my mobo supports am2+, even am3 (but only 65wats), but the funny thing is in the cpu support list on the webiste for the mobo, they detailed names of every processor it supports, but there's no phenom 9850.
I just want to make sure it will work before I buy it :)

Not if your board supports 65w max - 9850 is a 125w processor.

No it supports AM3 processors up to 65W, not am2+ and am2

Well according to MSI it supports up to 95W Phenom X4, so I would say no.

Why do you want such an old CPU anyway?

I'm sure we could find a better CPU than Sempron that will work in your board.....

Cause I'm kinda buying second hand parts, not new ones, and that came up in the local website very cheap :)

Nah bro it's okay, as I sad, I'm buying used parts, its cheap in my country, like phenom x4 for 30 euros, and ati radeon hd 4850 30 euros. So I'll see to build a computer from scratch :)

Yep, depending on the workload of course. They overclock quite well, but even at stock a 955 Phenom II will smash your 1200 Sempron.

What do you use your PC for mainly?

I use it mainly for gaming, but I want to render videos as well, so will phenom 955 and ati radeon 4850 be good enough for gaming, not on ultra quality ofc?

4850 will struggle in newer games to be honest, as a lot of them are DX11 only and that is a DX10 GPU.

But at resolutions around 1650x1050 or 1440x900 it will do just fine with a few settings turned down in some games. I wouldn't expect that chip to push 1080p though not at frame rates that would be playable.

Like others have said it depends on what games your going to be playing, how old they are, will you overclock the CPU and GPU, etc.

I am still running my 955BE @ 3.8 on air with no voltage increase and it has been great since I put it in my machine. Just out of interest which country are you in as I have a Radeon HD5850 Turbo for sale at the moment, I have just bought a 7950 Boost.

    Its this one http://www.hisdigital.com/gb/product2-526.shtml

Firstly I will overclock the hell out of everything, like always. And I'm not planing to play over 1280x1024 resolution because there is no point, and I don't have that kind of a monitor, even If i wanted crispier gameplay, theres AA for that, and I'm planing to play the newer games, and the games that will come up in the next 2-3 years, all that 60+ fps, thats my goal :)
